A Make Or Brake Season ?

Featured Replies

There have been a few comments on here that next season will be make or break for Megson. For some pricks that will always be the case, as what ever he achieves wont be good enough, but for the more objective folk out there what should define if Megson is made or broke next season?

my two penneth....

our average season end Premeriership position is 12th.

Given that we were 20th when Megson took us over and we are now hovering around the average at 13th place this has to represent significant progress.

A top half finish next season would be a further step forward and would be clearly a "make" season.

A similar mid table finish should be no reason to get hysterical.

A relegation dog fight (even if we survive) would probably represent a "break" point for me.

Too many intangibles really, if he lost key players to injury for example

But for me, a mid-table finish without being under too much threat of the drop, perhaps a cup run depending on the draw, and just a little more verve in some home games would be success

He's only a tw?t's hair from achieving that, but we could just as easily stagnate and struggle for goals... it's still on a knife edge for me

he has to bring players in to fill some obvious gaps in the squad.

1 centre half

2 midfieild players

and 1 midfield/forward with pace.

or devise a new system that better uses what we have.

intangibles like injuries happen, as a manager he has to cope with that.

so far he has bought in youngish english players assume he has reduced wage bill and maintained our league position, presume we can not cut the squad more.

I disagree. This is Bolton Wandererers, whoever is in charge, survival in the Prem is make every time.

The Leagues changing each season, there is now an unbelievable 20 point gap betweeen 3rd and 5th !!!

We are bottom feeders fighting over the scraps.

We should have no problem surviving (on paper at least) if Newcastle and Boro go down.

Don't take the p1ss out of fans going to cup games

Sign a couple of names to put our club on the map again

Play entertaining football, or at least try to.

Stay up

Not asking for Europe, cup finals, top 10 finish. Just something to get the blood flowing again and get the Reebok full.

The premiership has gone all continental. To many people who dive at the drop of a hat. It's all touchy feely now. I fear we probably have lost those days forever

So we saying we cant achieve what Fulham acheived this season?

It'll be difficult, given that they still massively outspend us. If you look at the two teams' subs on Saturday, theirs cost around ?19mil, and ours cost 65 grand.

Im not saying that, just that survival is an achievement on its own and always will be.

I'd go with that, exile.

Me too. (Not an over the top response again?)
