Carlos Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 When the likes of Norman Hunter, Tommy Smith and Chopper Harris were playing, do you remember loads of careers being ended by some of the proper tackles which were the norm then? I don't. I don't, but it's way before my time. Player's careers could have been ended and you'd never know about it as they don't have the profile they do now. These days, the slightest bit of permanent damage and you won't be able to play at the very top level again, in the old days that probably wasn't the case as long as you cut down on the Woodbines. How many former-footballers now have fucked knees etc.? Get a tackle like this wrong and it's a straight red, that's enough reason for me not to make it unless the bloke is through on goal.
