Slaven Billic - Man For The Job If And When.......

I will own up and say i was not the first poster to mention Billic for manager but my posts have been shot down as ridiculous for even mentioning him, took this qoute from another thread that would suggest he is definatly worth an approach if/WHEN GM gets the boot.....

source- espn soccernet - nov 26th

Croatia boss Slaven Bilic rejected an approach from the Scottish Football Association to succeed George Burley.

Slaven Bilic rejected the chance to manage Scotland

Bilic, 41, has remained in charge of Croatia despite finishing below England and Ukraine in World Cup qualification and missing out on a place in South Africa, but he remains open to potential job offers.

His agent, Rudi Vata, revealed he had been willing to speak to Portsmouth before Avram Grant was named their new boss but that he was not interested in holding talks over the Scotland job. Nonetheless, clubs in the Premier League and Bundesliga are apparently still interested in his services and it appears Bilic is ready to move on.

"I recently had a request about the Scotland national team and Bilic was not interested in that at the moment," Vata told The News. "He was heavily involved with the Croatian national team in the summer and couldn't make any move.

"Now he is in a position where he can sit down and study all of the offers available. The English Premier League is one of the top leagues in Europe.

"He wants to make the right decision and he wants to make the right move. There are clubs in Germany and England who are interested in him."

For me this would be an excellent move, for one i think we would see alot more of Klasnic who for me has looked our best attcking threat in the small doses that we have seen of him. I also think he would be able to bring exceptionl scouting resources from the balkans which could prove vital this January. If he would look at Pompey he would look at us, no questions! If he stays with Croatia he would not have a competative game for over 12 months.

Even if we get good resulte the next three games i would still personally prefer getting Billic in now as i think long term prospects would be so much greater.

Your thoughts please.........

I have a Crotia shirt, maybe that would entice him.

But like Traf said in a previous post he did well getting the best out of players who actually are Croatian.

The problem is when he has a global transfer market to deal with.

If he did become manager, we've already missed out on Modric, Krancjar etc, the players he actually knows.

Anyone else would probably cost a lot as well.

Mind you what has happened to that Croatian fat sam signed for about ?7m?

Struggles to hit Fat Sam's arse with a Dingle Banjo.

Is megson the man for bolton? No

Would bilic be a good replacement? IMO yes.

Would bilic chose bolton? Again IMO no.

we could argue the merits of bilic til the cows come home. it's not a lack of ambition it's called being realistic.

Bilic would take over at Pompey as they've got a mega buck arab holding the purse strings giving a him handy transfer kitty. we've got a man who makes kettles switches borrowing mone from the cayman isles

i think its a very realistic target, people can say we need a Premier league-experienced manager but megsons record was something like 45 prem games and 9 wins before he came to us.

And what is Bilic's record in the premier league?

He did well a few years ago when they turned us over at wembley, but since then nothing. Having had so called talent players, we still over-ran them in Zagreb

A national manager does not make a good league manager.
