January 30, 201115 yr A lad I know plays for Darlington, he just signed permanently for them having been on loan from Peterborough. Anyway, when I was chatting to him last year, when he was on loan at Luton, he told us that he wasn't the highest paid player at Luton, and he was on ?950 per week - not bad really, ?50K per year for playing non-league football. He wouldn't tall us who the highest earner at Luton was, and how much they earned though
January 30, 201115 yr When the Football League operated a maximum wage, this did not apply to non league clubs. It was possible therefore for a non league player to earn more than a first division player. I don't know of any who did.
