February 20, 201511 yr How do I do it? Want to transfer some old videos onto my lappy do I need a fancy wire or owt?
February 20, 201511 yr I bought a kit for doing it from Maplins. About £30 for wires and instructions. I gave up after managing to transfer about half an hour's worth because it was too complicated and a total ball-ache. I'm going to take my tapes in somewhere and get them to do it onto a DVD. I reckon they're valuable enough to me to pay someone to do a good job rather than me end up with a load of random files to try to knot together. Good luck if you venture to have a go yourself.
February 20, 201511 yr It's a piece of piss, SCART lead into a DVD recorder. The sort that was all the rage about 10 years ago. Once it's on DVD you can rip it to file.
February 20, 201511 yr I used one of these As White On Tyne says, bit of a ball ache to set up, but once it's set up it works well.

May 12, 201511 yr Digitize the video first the old school way but it requires a lot of equipment to do so. Drew Peacock's suggestion is the only way to go.
