Before the Wembley BBC debate in the Referendum campaign, Ruth Davidson got a call from the Tories:

"We want you to be the Tory (on the team of three). The Labour Party are putting up Angela Eagle".

She replied "I think Angela's great, but are you absolutely sure that you want two short-haired, flat-shoed, shovel-faced lesbians with northern accents, because that seems to me as if you're role-casting a bit much for a UK-wide debate".

In the event Labour replaced Eagle senior with Sadiq Khan.
