As far as contenders are concerned, you mentioned Spurs (a joke - masters of mediocrity but looking better under Jol) and Arsenal (in decline). Charlton??? Get real. Man United and Liverpool will always be contenders. Lancashire started the league and the passion for the game there will always set us apart from you also rans. Live with it.

Not the brightest slapper in Essex are ya? Might pay to note my geographical location sweetie. 18 years in Oz (anniversary today in fact) and managed to attend 32 games in that time. Get your calculator out and put a monetary figure on that before you start shouting the odds. Of the 32, 14 were away 17 at home and 1 at Wembley (95 league cup final) Sadly, unlikely I will attend a game at all this season as splashed out big time on the world cup trip. Please try to concentrate.

What is the problem with North West Support? I was up in your region doing a business survey just before Christmas. The survey covered Burnley, Accrington and Blackburn.
I was struck by how close so many league clubs are, vying for local support. I wondered whether this is the major reason that neither Bolton, Blackburn or Wigan can sell out on a regular basis and have the ignominy of poor support for prestigious fixtures.
I don't mean this as a piss take, it???s a genuine question. No one doubts the passion for football up there.
I carried out a project in Liverpool too this month, a small city with a big reputation but able to have two of the best supported clubs in Britain, the same goes for Manchester, though we all know that Uniteds fan base is in Cornwall and the far east.
Could Bolton ever be in a position to have 30K or more a game and bring some fans to away games too?
Now you seem a sensible chap Willie. Having worked in the area, you at least have a feel for the concentration of clubs and probably have a feel for socio economic conditions for a lot of people in the area. If you had a set amount of diposable income and had been a mad BWFC fan for many years (we still remember Aldershot away in the old 4th div.!) what would you do? Marseille away or West Ham at home in the FA Cup? I guarantee you, if I wasn't 12000 miles away I'd be at everything. But that's me.
I would love to see a sellout for every home game but am happy enough that the EPL games are always well attended. I think our away support is pretty good. Pretty sure we sold out our Highbury allocation.
Your question about 30,000+ is an interesting one. Look back at our record until the demise of Burnden Park and you'll see some fantastic crowd figures. The support is there. There are other reasons for the current situation.
Nice to hear from an opponent with constructive criticism and an (apparent) interest in the reasons behind a situation.

It has always been that way in Bolton and, unlike you and your pis*y 12 year support for your club, my first game was the last match of the 62-63 season so I would know. Before you say it, yes, I don't get anywhere near the 80% of games I went to pre 88. Brought down here to improve the gene pool and reclaim this land for the Crown. I have managed to attend games (home and away) for 15 of the 18 years I have been away so work out what that has cost me and then talk about the cost of seeing a match.
