  1. I may only be in my late twenties and never thought i'd end up saying things like this, but todays football is not the same game that i loved so much in my younger days. Sure i still love the game and bwfc but somehow don't feel part of it anymore. gone are the days when the fans were the heart and soul of the football club. i mean with all the talk of season tickets, i for one will not waste my money. not because i don't want to go to the games, more that i don't know when the games are likely to be. having to work weekends used to mean booking a saturday afternoon off work but now we have lunctime games, tea time games, 2 kick off times on a sunday and monday nights. how are fans meant to know whether they are coming or going. bigger tv money means more pressure to stay in the top leagues which means more money needed for clubs to buy players and pay wages which means it's going to cost us more money to go through the turnstiles regardless of whether it's 3 o'clock on a staurday or more likely now 12 o'clock on a sunday. my main gripe with todays footballers is do they actually give a shit like we the fans do - definitely not. they still pick up their salary at the end of the week win lose or draw. they are not the same players i could once identify with and whilst i struggle to pay a mortage and bills, i can't justify spending my money to line theirs and the clubs pockets further when they don't care one bit for the average fan. now i'm off to moan about something else if only i could remember what i did with my pipe and slippers....
  2. top 5 for me would be 1. play off final versus reading 2. semi final versus wolves 3. city away in 97 when we won the laegue at main road (qued for tickets at 6am to get one for that game as they only gave us about 2000 official) 4. last game at burnden 4-1 against charlton 5 swindon in the semi final of the coca cola good to think back to some good days - that 96-97 season in particular going for the 100 goals 100 points was one of the best seasons supporting bwfc - even the 0-0 at oldham at 2-2 at tranmere couldn't spoil our last season at burnden
  3. yeah but they are just scum anyway
  4. Personally, think he's the right man for the job. Will command immeiate respect from the players, fans and media which lets be honest, McClaren never had and which some of the lesser names who were touted as potential candidates would struggle to achieve. Neil Bonnars article in the BEN claims Steve Coppell is undoubtedly the best man for the job!? The same Steve Coppelll who lasted about 5 mins beacuse of the 'pressure' at Man City and who's hardly set the managerial world alight since then. http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/wanderers/w...n_in_charge.php
  5. one thing that really grinds me about the modern game is pre meditaded, orchastrated clap alongs to shit music after goals - al a boro and that really annoying tune that they play. was class a few years ago when we were winning up with there with a couple of minutes to go taking the piss out of the local inbreds singing their shite tune back at them. of course we had to go spoiling it by conceding in the last minute and then had them singing it back. music after goals is naff and embarrasing - even more so when accompanied by two specials running down the touchline with giant flags in a half empty stadium!
  6. In ideal world, we'd have prefered not to have to make any choice between two distinctly average managers. I was gob smacked at some of the names touted for the job when lee left but looking back, there wasn't a great deal of quality out there who would have been interested in joining a club a)in the bottom 3 of the prem, with a track record of having a tight fisted cu*t of a chairman and c) having a non too trustworthy chap offering his services in apppointing a new manager. the bottom line is we have megson in charge and should get behind him and the players he ppicks to play for our club. so far i like what he's done. i think essentially he's another allarydyce in his tactics and whether we like it or not its worked for us in the past. come the end of the season when we've secured safety, lets wish him all the best and be in a better position to attract a proven manager who can help us defend our uefa cup crown!* *not actually sure if winners can defend if not qualified through league but nice thought anyway
  7. having been slightly offended by your claim that i had merely read the story, i was straight on the phone to the bloke who gave me the info. normally he's pretty reliable and finds things out through a few decent contacts so when i asked him where he'd heard this and he said 'news now and a few of the papers' i was a bit miffed as i now look a complete tit!!!
  8. Heard the same thing today regarding Ben Haim. Apparantly him and Avram Grant do not get along at all. Megson has been made aware of this and is keen to secure a 6 month loan for him. Player is apparantly desperate to get away - watch this space i say.
  9. not wanting to wade in and cause a ruck on my first post but nicky hunt was a young lad who we brought through...he still is young yet here we are knocking one of our own players who is actually doing what we'd all love to do and represent our home town club. granted he's not the greatest defender we've ever had but knocking the bloke every time he puts a foot wrong will do nothing for the lads confidence. i had the mis fortune of being in the west stand upper with the rug and flask brigade for the last euro match and the abuse and criticism levelled at him was ridiculous and at times unfair and unjust and will do nothing to get him playing like he did in his first prem season.
