  1. Should've been 4 nowt down at half time. That second goal was mint. Highlights of the day were the reaction of the players when Elmander scored his first and how mental they all went at full time. Rob Green won't get much more stick than that this season. Felt a bit sorry for him until I remembered he's good for six points a season...

Come on Mr Disco, we had two very good chances first half before West Ham battered us for half an hour, 0-4 is a bit strong but Happy Days :yahoo:

  2. just been having a look on a WH forum and what a set of cunts most of them are.

    came across this

on the other side of it though one guy sais he would love to have davies at WH

There are some seriously bitter and twisted keyboard warriors on there. I think most of them don't even get to Upton Park, they just watch the match on a computer and think they know it all! Mind you it must be hard to take losing SEVEN straight games to a dirty northern pub team

  3. People outside of Bolton, thought he did well.

I remember you lot comming in for loads of stick, usually along the lines of, "Who do they think they are ?" etc.

But what they didnt see or hear is all the other crap you had to deal with.

Regardless of what you did on the pitch, Megson was a misserable c?nt, and couldn't help himself having a dig at Bolton fans, crowd, atmosphere, booing etc.

Ian is spot on, he had no idea how to deal with other aspects of the job.

I think Maybe Bolton was a too big a Club for him.

Once again it takes an Everton fan to give an objective, reasoned and insightful opinion on BWFC. :D

Megson brought some good players and kept us in the Premier League which was always going to be difficult once BSA had gone. The Sammy Lee experiment didn't work so he did well to keep us up.

But we were right to sack him when we did. We couldn't carry on the way we were headed. That was at best always fighting among ourselves or at worst relegation.

I really do hope he gets a job ASAP and we will find out if those who were glad to be shut are 'dense' or not. It will be a right ding dong do the day he brings another team to the Reebok. Can't wait.

  4. He not our manager anymore! we have moved on its a shame that he carn't. but we really need to stop opening threads on the man everytime his ginger face gets air time!

Correct and it only gets Homer all worked up. :D

Once his 'gardening leave' is sorted he will spoilt for choice and fighting them off with a stick.

  5. I know, but I tend to lump the sheep together.

For all the whining and hand wringing no one has come out with a word to refute what I've said. Who'd have thought that a lightweight dwarf with next to no end product could get such adoration?

I've got a word to refute the drivel you have come out with but I'm too polite to give it here.

  6. That's not the individuals fault though.

I have a feeling that the anti-Megson brigade will just always be on someone's back that he purchased (possibly other than Cahill). Steinsson seems to constantly get positives but I thought at times last year he was badly at fault for many goals and because he claps the fans everything is OK. Just proves how fickle some people are.

Zat Knight was getting awful stick round me up until Megson left, 2 months later and it's how great he is.

I was definitley anti Megson, no apologies. But I don't boo players and I certainly wouldn't get on anyones back just because of who signed them.Zat Knight became a better player under Coyle but some were eager to judge him too quickly, granted. I also like Steinsson and it's not just because he claps the fans. But defend the likes of Steinsson, Davies, Jussi on here and you get accused of being populist and fickle. Yet point out that Elmander is a waste of space and you suddenly don't know anything about football. Still it's all about opinions I suppose. :D

  7. Anthony Barness, Mike Whitlow, Simon Charlton, Paul Warhurst, Bo hansen, Steve Banks, Ian Marshall, Nicky Southall.........were all part of which clearly very average Bolton team?

Mike Whitlow,Simon Charlton and to a lesser extent Marshall & Barness all were very good value signings for BWFC. Whitlow as far as I'm concerned was a 100 per cent Wanderer. He would have run through a brick wall for Bolton and played through the pain barrier many a time for us. Also a fantastic bloke off the pitch, regularly filled in at last minute at Junior Whites, hospital visits the lot.

Wouldn't have guessed that they were all part of that 5-0 side though, just shows! I'll never forget that day but looks like I had forgotten some of the team!

  8. weh hey!..im on that clip! 19 seconds in,second from right of cheering line of whites with my bald mate pete on my back! cracking day that....

Was it after this game that we didn't win away for ages? Think we were in the top four(ish) after this win IIRC.

  9. I'd be quite pleased with Nugent.

    Am I alone in this?

No, I would have taken him last season. Ok not in preference to a fully fit Klas but compared to our other striking options a definite improvement. He scored six goals in a relegated side. How many did super swede score?

Ok he won't set pulses racing but I think he can do a job.A local lad who will settle in quickly and has worked with Coyle. For the price as well, I think he's capable of ten premier league goals with us.

Plus when he does bang a few in it will piss off Bucketshakers & Dingles. And he reportedly turned down Blackburn! What's not to like?

  10. something tells me (and i really hope I'm right in a way) that elmander will have a really good season what with coyle's new style of play and the creative players in petrov and lee that will be providing good service. I think he will get between 10 and 15 this season. another reason why i think he will do well is this is the last year of his contract and he will need to play well to either a) ge a new one at bolton, or B) get other clubs interested in hime.

the only downside is that if he does have a pretty good season then another club could pilfer him next summer for free. although i would rather him have a good one and leave on a free than a bad one and leave on a free!

4 goals at most. All in defeats when we were 3,4 nil down.

  11. some of you lot really need to get a grip. No it's not a brilliant signing but Coyle has worked with him before and let's hope he knows more about it than the likes of Homer. We are Bolton, we often make uninspiring looking signings that come off. Remember Bob Taylor and Ian Marshall, both did a job for us.

Plus the guy who described Petrov as a'fringe' player. Think you should go and support another team mate, if you can't get excited about his signing you might just find yourself doomed to disappointment.

  12. Ten years in the Prem is a fantastic achievement and it amazes me that some of our own fail to appreciate this. There are enough people out there who knock BWFC why join in? Surely Gartside must have done something right?

When we were relegated against Chelsea that season(especially given the circumstances) I could only dream of ten years in the top flight. It hadn't been known in my lifetime, getting a second season would have been something. Plus we haven't just made up the numbers, we defied all the odds by staying up, qualified for Europe twice and regularly held our own against the big boys. Liverpool didn't win at the Reebok for five seasons, Arsenal,Spurs & West Ham hated coming here, Newcastle got royally battered every time(until they nicked our manager). We won twice at OT (how many other clubs have managed that in the Prem?) and we got results at Stamford Bridge. Sure we have had some tonkings but so has everyone else apart fron the Big Four. Look how long it took Wigan to take a point off the big boys or how long it took Spurs (a massive club) to win there. All achieved without going daft financially.

My eleven year old thinks Bolton have always been a Premier League team. I try telling him that it used to be Rotherham,Southend,Gillingham etc who came to Bolton not Liverpool,Arsenal,Chelsea. He just gives me that look that says 'that must have been a long time ago dad like black and white telly'. We know nothing lasts forever so let's enjoy it while we can. And lets have less of the rose tinted Burnden bollocks because most of those posting it didn't see it in its heyday anyway.

Anyway rant over, I'm really looking forward to next season and a new beginning under Coyle.Time to start enjoying football again.

  13. Ron Atkinson was decent enough. Told it how he saw it.

ITV don't seem to be using him as much now. The coverage in South Africa would have been better for having him there.

I wonder what he would have said about the performance of the African sides. Bet it wouldn't have made the repeats. :D

    (Honourable exception to Ghana).

  14. He's a total cock. Him and that Welsh prick nearly ruined the game for me. Talk about labouring a point. Had to check who it was, thought it was John Hartson at first but no it was that fantastic, highly successful manager Chris Coleman, telling us Germany will give us a game on Sunday. Well I never. Just how do ITV choose their pundits? Andy Townsend, Jim Beglin, Robbie Earle, the worst England Manager ever back in the studio and now Chris Coleman? And don't even get me started on the boring brummie, not mentioned his fecking croatian mother this time has he?

Hope the Germany game is on BBC. At least Lineker & Shearer can talk from experience about England v Germany.

  15. thats a brave assumption.

    maybe nobody else wanted him.

and even if they did, maybe it was only for a bench spot.

maybe is was on lower wages.

i dont see it as a big signing, i see it as sam allardyce signing. (ie player at end of career with doubts over attitude and fitness)

ive not problem with the signing, but not someone i would associate with coyle.

  16. 4-0 .. Australia are taking a hammering, scoreline and performance wise.

Germany best so far in tournament, but Australia have been terirble, Cahill didn't deserve a red card though, stupid decision from the ref.

Cahill fully deserved a red card. Players were told beforehand that bad tackles from behind would result in a red card. Cahill could have broken the guys ankle with such a reckless challenge. It was not a 'stupid' decision, if the ref doesn't follow directives he will be brought to book and like I said I reckon it was deserved anyway. The fact he gets away with it regularly in the Premier League doesn't make the decision wrong either in my book.
