Did anyone see my lad being detained and handcuffed outside the away end after the game, I know he shouldn’t have bitten at the dickhead port vale  fan with a straw hat on , who was abusing anyone, if you did please pm me if you let me give your details to put a complaint into gmp, I have a port vale fan who saw what happened and complained to the police at the time about the behaviour of “officer “ involved.

    thanks in advance

Was your lad nicked or just briefly detained and released?

  2. We where going back to hotel when verbals and a bit of shoving started. As I turned around before going into the hotel I saw someone get in front of the bloke with the hat on then the ob moved in as I was going in hotel. The lad with black SI was PV.

I’ve got some Plantronics ones for work, which make me look like I have a job in a call centre. However, a few people have mentioned they are good at cancelling background noise.

If she doesn’t work at home or in an office it might be a bit odd though - popping these on in a coffee shop. I saw someone walking across London Bridge with a pair on and he looked a right bellend. It wasn’t me.

Forgot I had these at work! Only used once in 12 months.

  4. You need a directional microphone, not sure if you can get this with buds etc. No doubt there will be AI/software that could do this.

As for noise cancelling in your ears, I've used Shure Se205's (in ear) for years and Sony MX4 (overear), both are excellent on planes 😁

My mrs introduced me to early Simple Minds stuff and its brilliant, much better than their late-80s output.

A few early stuff in the set in Leeds and the following gigs. Couple of early ones in the sound check and pre sound check 🙄

Met Jim and Charlie, really nice blokes.

Amsterdam in two weeks... Space 🍰's 😗

  6. Glad you enjoyed it pal.

I had a chat with Russ on Colls yesterday, he got in at 3.30am and was in the doghouse 😁

Would have been there but was at a concert in Leeds we booked last Sept. Need more than six weeks notice!

My mrs said they are lovely blokes - dead down to earth, she did T in the Park with them in 2012. I just always thought they were a bit naff, but I had no idea about their early post-punk stuff. No wonder they hated Don't You Forget About Me when they first heard it.

Thats a cracking set in the rain, its on YT. it was on the 5x5 tour, 5 songs from there first 5 albums.

Derek Forbes has a book out A Very Simple Mind. He's got together with the original keyboard player Mick MacNeil and drummer Brian McGee and going to be doing some live dates with just early stuff, The Minds.

Definitely, I've got loads of early bootlegs, suprising how many gigs were recorded by audiences or on the sound board.

I was in Valencia in January for the Simple Minds Spanish meet up. Original base player Derek Forbes was there for a Q&A. Top bloke and spent a bit of time chatting with him about his time in SM, 78 to 85. Some of the stuff 🙄

    Going in April.
We’ve paid for breakfast in our hotel to fill up for the day!

    Any tips on car hire?

I used https://www.bluecarrental.is/ I booked a nissan qashqai 4 wheel drive, when I got there they apologised that they didn't the car and said did I mind if they gave me a Toyota Landcrusier! Keep off F roads. Watch out for old bill and speed cameras. I stuck to the speed limit but locals where flying past me. I stuck my dashcam on and have saved the files, unbelievable landscape esp on the coast past Vik.

It was 2015 and I had a 4G signal everywhere, playing at it over here.

  12. Forget Blue Lagoon, we went to the secret lagoon, which isn't very secret.

As mentioned above, new spa open in Reykavik called Sky Lagoon.

Gulfoss, geysers, Seljalandsfoss & Skógafoss waterfalls and the beach at Vik.

I also used the Appy Hour app, in 2015 it was £6 pint, recently in Tromso I was paying £8 which wasn't bad considering its £5.75 for Madri at TS. Plus I had 50 real ale beers and 8 pilsners to choose from.

Don't forget to buy your duty free when you enter Iceland, there is a shop and you get points you can https://www.dutyfree.is/en

Supermarkets can only sell 2% beer. They have govenment offies. https://www.vinbudin.is/english/home/opnunartimar Watch out for opening times.

We did a £900 in seven days. Petrol, food, drinks and entrance ro Serect Lagoon.

This is what I recall. I'd not fancy being front row in that case, you'd see nowt of the rest if the pitch.

I recall Hargreaves, being interviewed before our final Burnden game v Charlton & asked if the capacity wasn't a bit shy. He said that if you looked at our history & crowds and taking modern tre nds it would possibly be challenged a few times v. the Stretfords or Liverpools but generally it should be adequate.

He also pointed out that the seats, compared with other new grounds, were quite spacious and if need be they could squeeze a few extra each row but they felt it wouldn't be necessary.

He also said that if, week after week it was proving inadequate they knew how they could add extra height by raising the roof, but it'd be expensive. I must admit I don't see how they could but I'm not a civil engineer.

tbf. I think overall he's been proven right.

Be cheaper to rebuild. Back at Burnden?  🙂

Maybe, but my issue is with my home broadband.

I can get on with a VPN, I can get on tethered to my phone and I'm working from somewhere else today and I can get in using the wifi where I am.

So, it has to be with my own broadband.

I agree, I suspect its to do with the external IP address your ISP are allocating. The VPN, mobile and WIFI elsewhere will have a differnet external IP address. This is how a VPN can mimic you being in another country.

    Who's your ISP?

  15. They used to auction mascot packages, got the lad against WBS in 2010 or 11 for £150. Nobody bid except me. To buy was £400. It was an xmas present.

Did John Terry not charge you for meeting him?

PMSL, he was injured and it was at the time the Rio stuff was happening, tbf all the players/staff where approachable.

Coyle was manager and we went in the dressing room before the match just after the team arrived, it was obv there was a problem, the atmosphere wasn't the best, ushered in and out. Completely different from when lad was mascot at home just after Coyle arrived. TBF Coyle was always good with my lad, just a shame it didn't work out on the pitch.

aways used to be free, just needed the current kit and have match tickets- the experience then changed depending on who we were playing. th'eldest did it v Burnley in the 125 anniversary game; turns out didnt even need tickets, and they were great hosts. she had a full team photo, which is rare

Same back in 2012, lad was mascot at Chelsea. Chelsea looked after us, meal & drinks on next table to players wives 😆 Gave us a tour with the home mascots. Met John Moston, John Terry, Lamps etc. £49 each for tickets mind.

Loads of mental health issues back in the day but it was never spoken about and brushed under the carpet, great that there isn’t the stigma now there was back then. Next time @bolty58 over be worth trying to meet for beer/meal and see if we can get Miami to turn out.

That would be a good. 👍

I say this often on this thread, regular exercise and cutting back on the booze 2 of the best things for mental health.
