  1. But then if you're working in a supermarket say you're increasing the risk for your wife. That's the problem loads have - if you work you increase risk...and that's fine if you and those you live with are all low risk. But if not?
  2. Yeah its possible - but the eyes of society have been opened. Already you see changes where people are condemned for acting against society's best interests a few weeks back that wouldn't have happened. I'm not sure any button simply resets us. Its not going to be a paradigm shift like the momentum nobs want but it will change a lot IMO.
  3. The two are not mutually exclusive. His supporters are bona fide drooling idiots. And rejecting anything that looks or sounds remotely intelligent is definitely playing to them. Whether on purpose or by accident - I suspect its an unhappy combination of the two.
  4. I think what we're seeing is the end of capitalism as we know it. People are suddenly aware of the way big business behaves as a matter of course. They're aware of the fact that its now crystal clear that many people on benefits are trapped by a system. Everyone is experiencing it now. Even Boris has in effect denounced Thatcherism with his "we've shown that there is such a thing as a society". The likes of Virgin and Easyjet are taking the piss. So are businesses forcing their staff in yet being unable to allow them suitable social distancing. Everyone from the government down to the poorest in society is pulling together. Yet banks and big business aren't really playing ball. It does not mean we'll head for socialism but I think the world will move very rapidly towards social democratic models after this - it will have to. The major fault-lines have been opened and the fallacies of the world we were rapidly hurtling through are laid bare.
  5. F&B is dirt. Only been to TGIs twice..it’s a gloried McDonald’s but both times was fine for me. I do like Wagmamas and agree their katsu is ace. Not a big fast food fan but I’d choose KFC over most other stuff to be honest. I like a bit of Southern fried chicken.
  6. If you haven’t I’ve a tip - don’t! TGIs is passable.
  7. Most chains are utterly dreadful. Don’t mind a Wagamama’s every now and again though.
  8. Their reporting is completely irresponsible. Trying to suggest that hundreds of deaths a day and rising is a fraction of the average deaths a day is nonsense. It’s like saying a nuclear war that kills 10,000 people a day is fine because 50,000 die a day any way. These deaths are people dying in hospital on ventilators. Mainly people who wouldn’t have died this week, month or year otherwise. And the issue is that this disease can easily infect us all so multiplying the small % over an entire population is disastrous. They speak of curtailing freedom as though it isn’t for our own good. Why are they sniping away on the sidelines when basically every country in the world accepts you need to suppress the spread of the virus?
  9. Yeah, I saw someone posting on twitter about it being awful how there were only 6000 flights last week. And that’s 80% down. 6000. People moving all over the show then. Not good.
  10. If only a few break it it’s not a problem. But if too many do it just prolongs it. Needs hefty fines as a way to discourage people flouting the rules. Already people being warned by the police apparently if taking non essential journeys or hanging round in groups.
  11. Yep. End of June. Then relax some stuff in July then back into lockdown August or September as it spikes again. Unless a solution is found that will be our future until a vaccine is ready. Plus they are today talking about further tightening of restrictions which I can only assume will mean only essential workers can go to work.
  12. Gove today has said we should expect to be in lockdown for a significant period. It’s right they set expectations. There is no obvious exit and people need to realise this is a long haul.
  13. The post I responded to was literally one calling out ‘left wing folk’ on twitter for daring to criticise the government. So your point is moot. As per... I was pointing out that people on all sides of the political spectrum are criticising in different ways.
  14. The hilariousness continues. People throw round commie bastard tags to anyone who has a view from centre right and beyond. Yet I call a few journos from the Spectator right wing twats and you get offended. Didnt realise you were all so touchy. Or so defensive about the Spectator..
  15. It’s hilarious that people are so insecure in their own opinions that they cannot read anything opposing them. Insecure, and weak minds. Ah well.
  16. There are momentum twats saying we should all live mud huts and on the other end the Spectator lot advocating protecting the economy over lives. They are all twats. The momentum mob are just about to lose control of the Labour Party anyway. They’re finished.
  17. Attempts at what? The spectator lot on Twitter were taking a published article out of context and trying to question the sense of the measures we had in place. I’d refer to the spectator goons and their followers as right wing twats. Not sure I’ve ever given the impression otherwise. If I have then I’m very forthright in my view that they are in fact right wing twats. And their latching on to anything to try and suggest we just follow Cummings bizarre let a load of oldies die plan merely comfirms my earlier opinion. If that isn’t reasonable in your eyes, I do not give a shit.
  18. And there are dyed in the wool Tories who wouldn’t accept anything a Labour government did. I’d bet Johnson would be one up in arms about Blair imposing these restrictions. There are plenty of right wing twats saying we shouldn’t have any restriction because it’s all overblown.
  19. Perfectly fit and healthy young people end up on ventilators with this. You can’t easily manage this. I think we need restrictions of some sort until a vaccine is available. Unless some other magic way crops up to stop transmission. It might be 3 months isolation followed by 2 out. Nobody knows. But there isn’t a simple way out. If you have proper long lasting immunity then possibly herd immunity might be a very long term managed way over the next two years but nobody knows how long immunity lasts.
  20. A quick google casts a lot of doubt on that rather unbelievable claim. Only story about the pair is Brook saying she was told early in her career to stay away from Hucknall and that she wouldn’t have gone there anyway....
  21. People keep mentioning herd immunity. There is no option for herd immunity without a vaccine. This idea was floated by Cummings who thought he understood the science but didn’t. As with most things. Herd immunity means hundreds of thousands of deaths. Its not an option. Further there is no definitive study showing how long lastingly effective antibody immunity is. The only thing we can do is prevent as many people getting this as possible for as long as possible. Until either an effective treatment or vaccine is available. There is currently no other way. Not my words but those of the SAGE group advising the government.
  22. Yep. It’s easy to see how how good people fall through massive holes in welfare provision in normal circumstances.
  23. Not sure it’s better but I’ve had more meetings this week than I ever did when actually at work. I think it will make us all more social as we realise how important our connections are.
