glennboltw Posted February 23 Author Posted February 23 (edited) The router is in the other side of the house from my Q box, it couldn't be further apart.....thanks for the link, obviously a sky problem and they are in no rush to fix. Edited February 23 by glennboltw Quote
green genie Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Have a look at Powerline Ethernet adapters. Work better if both sockets are on the same ring main Quote

Moderators Casino Posted February 23 Moderators Posted February 23 My isp, VM, gave me one to get a decent signal in a back bedroom from the front room router Allows the lad to have a wired xbox Quote

I don't understand how they could possibly work on 2 different circuits. Anyway, I've just ordered some new top of the range ones, so they'd better work, you wankers. Quote
green genie Posted March 5 Posted March 5 The ones around 8 years ago only worked at a distance be easier to sling a CAT6 in. I’ve had current set from Covid times and are pretty stable, suspect they have improved since then They're effectively creating noise on the base AC sine wave and reading it back so in theory if signal was strong enough could read it next door dependant on the amount of background noise from solar, car chargers etc already on the network. Good luck and let us know if they work Quote
Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted March 5 Site Supporter Posted March 5 I used them for a brief time. Seemed OK, but not as good as a cable. Anyway, on a different note, anyone noticed "jumping" pictures when watching anything on ITV X? Only ever does it on that app. Presumably somert to do with "their end" as every other app works fine. Good luck and let us know if they work They've arrived, and although the diagram on the outside of the box shows them connecting a downstairs router to a laptop upstairs, the instructions inside specifically say (several times) "Make sure all Powerline devices are on the same circuit". I'll be trying them out in a couple of hours, so we'll see... I'm not confident. Quote
Moderators Casino Posted March 6 Moderators Posted March 6 my VM one goes from the front room to a back bedroom and id be surprised if thats one circuit they do have wifi too so maybe i'm using wifi - adaptor to adaptor? either way, it works Quote
Site Supporter Cheese Posted March 6 Site Supporter Posted March 6 Fuck me, my memory is atrocious. I was talking utter bollocks. Must have been my last abode that had upstairs/downstairs sockets on separate rings. Needless to say, the Powerline adapters work like a charm, and I'm none the wiser.🤦♂️ Quote
