The amount of boozers shutting the length and breadth of this country is outrageous. I do a lot of travelling, and I see them disappearing on an almost weekly basis. Some of them are really nice traditional type places that are the heart of a community, but are closed by the brewery and then sold off to make way for executive houses etc (usually these pubs have massive gardens etc that you can cram a couple of houses on)

 

I suppose they will knock the Greenwood down and build about 10 2-bed flats which start at around ??250K each

There`s loads of Gay pubs in Manchester so one less in Horwich won`t make any difference.

As a resident of Horwich (the town, not the mod). I will not be sad to see the demise of the Greenwood. An unpleasant chavy, grubby pub imo. Let's hope the flats are pleasant, well built and not an extension of Craven Court (the residents of which appear to be the core clientele of the Greenwood.)

At least the bowling green pub is still open (when they can be arsed to unlock the doors that is)

Well after what i saw in there after the Watford game, i for one would not be sad to see it pulled down

The out of towners were complaining that the Barnstormers was getting bust last week. It will be twice as worse if the greenwood closes.
