Ronnie Phillips

i remeber that story coming out but i no for a fact that it is untrue because he lives in glossop and is still working as driving instructor, i took leasons with him five years ago and had some fantastic chats about his time with bolton. sadly he is a city fan but still holds found memories of playing at burnden

tis true hes dead, his offy was next to walkden train station.

he has supplied the walkden whites with ale on many a trip. :drinks: :drinks:

Sad news. One of my earliest Lever End memories is this song:-

Aye, aye, aye ,aye,

Eddie is better than Yashin,

Ron Phillips is better than Eusebio

And Blackburn are in for a thrashing.

RIP Ronnie.

twas a great season 72 / 73 and was my baptism in the lever end. "we've got jimmy, jimmy jimmy, jimmy phillips on the wing" was one of the first chants i learned. I can still see him pushing the ball past the left full back and getting the crosses in with the flash of blond hair.

we always kicked off with the ball back to the edge of the centre circle and lumped out of play over the right backs head

i always thought this was aimed at said ronnie phillips, but he was never within 30 yards of it

unless there was two ron phillips playing for bolton in the seventies for about nine years he is deffernatly alive. he has loads of shirts, pictures and a hole host of other stuff proving that he is the real thing all over his house.

i think you may have been fooled by a man whose fetish is to pretend he is Ron Phillips

he must have gone to some long lengths then. he looks like him, he has the same name and he must have stole many of his shirts and some othere famouse players shirts from the seventies from the real man
