November 15, 200619 yr I would recommend everybody to go on this site and sign up for the mailing list. I receive a mail the equivalent of once a week, you don't get bombarded with mails. There's always something in there you can do to save money. So far I've saved money on a credit card transfer and train tickets.

December 4, 200619 yr I've just got all my statements from the Abbey dating all the way back to 1999. It turns out that I have paid them over ??2500 in charges. I shall now attempt to reclaim them.

December 5, 200619 yr Just a late addition to this thread. I was so peed off with paying bank charges and also having no time to sort out getting them back. Sooo, I've just signed up with Robertson Holbrook, basically you fill out two forms which give them the ability to request information from your bank and they sort out the rest with charges going back 6 years. The way that they make their money is from the interest from the charges. If you to do with without a legal team you can get back the interest yourself but I'd rather let the professionals get onto it and get my money back. The thing is bank charges are such a hot topic at the moment that the banks are trying to tie up the legaity of them, the only reason why you can get them back at the moment is because of a loop hole in contract law. This company take between 3 -4 months to get your money back and will offer advice if you have to go to small claims court. December 6, 200619 yr Author Dropping my letters and cheques in with my two banks today. I know for sure that one of these banks will pay out (my BM already told me).
December 6, 200619 yr It probably won't be worth the bother for me, every time I've been charged for going overdrawn I've rang up, stamped my feet and threatened to take my banking elsewhere. I would say, 9 times out of 10 I've got my own way. Little Miss Tantrum
December 6, 200619 yr What can I do. 1968 was the last time I paid bank charges. Someone turn his eartrumpet up and tell him we've gone decimal.
December 6, 200619 yr Someone turn his eartrumpet up and tell him we've gone decimal. No need. Britain went decimal on 15 February 1971. That was when the value of the pound sterling was reduced to 8/4. Crawley will need someone to explain the last bit.
