Where Are They Now? - Owen Coyle

I'm rather surprised at myself that I have not written about Owen's whereabouts sooner - it's not as though he has been low profile since leaving us - rather he has been in fine form back over the boarder both as a player and a manager.

Thanks to Commie's prompt today I will tell you a wee bit more about what he's been up to - see how I slipped in a bit of Scottish vernacular there!

For anybody interseted in Scottish footy he will be on the box tonight - BBC1 Scotland - as manager of First Division, St Johnson (Trivia - the only British club with a letter 'J' in it's name) as they take on Motherwell from the Premiership.

He's being doing rather well in the cup competitions this season leading the First Division side to beat Rangers and Dundee United in the CIS Cup, while the Saints hammered Falkirk to set up the quarter-final at Fir Park.

"We are playing an established SPL side so, once again, it is a game where we are big underdogs," said Coyle.

"We are not expected to get anything, but we will give it our best shot."

The Perth outfit has been in one-cup semi-final already this season and were unlucky to lose out to Hibs after extra time.

"We have already produced a few cup shocks this year though and we will certainly be trying to get another one on Wednesday," added Coyle.

Reminds me of our great cup runs as underdogs some thirteen or so years ago now - with Coyle playing up front and knocking them in. Great times!!!

Good luck tonight Owen!

scores a goal?

think more along the lines of "ball is loose in the box, one on one with the keeper but then chickens out, fear of hurting himself"
