Nicky Hunt

Despite being a local boy, Hunt is extremely unpopular amongst Bolton fans (something which the press has not picked up on yet despite frequent complaining in the stadium and on fans forums) as many fans consider he is prone to far too many blunders and simply is not good enough for the Premiership - especially for a team that has finished in the top 8 for the last four years

I'm still puzzled.

I've seen Hunt have good games, and he was an England Under-21 regular, so he has some things going for him. But he's also got weaknesses - inconsistency and poor positional play among them.

What I don't understand is why he's not getting any better. Jussi has been having specialist goalkeeper coaching for some years now, and we've seen improvements. Why does Hunt not get specialist full-back coaching ? Or is he getting that but not taking it on board ?

I've seen Hunt have good games, and he was an England Under-21 regular, so he has some things going for him. But he's also got weaknesses - inconsistency and poor positional play among them.

To my mind you have to have the right attitude and work ethic to improve, from what I hear is a cocky thinks he knows it all type of person, players like djorkaeff work there socks off when they are top quailty and that is why Hunt will never improve unless he looks at himself critically and decides to dedicate himself 100%.

I agree with Mounts on this one, hopefully under the guidance of Sammy Lee, we can see an improvement in Hunts overall game

IMO Nicky Hunt needs competiton for his place to improve himself as a full back.

He likes to get forward and put a ball into the box which I remember a few assists coming from.

My source tells me that Nicky would love to burst forward given the chance play the ball inside to the holding midfielder or strikers feet but he has spent all last season being trained to play direct up the wing to Davies and to not get forward as he kept getting caught out.

Believe of this what u like but I honestly think BFS changed Hunt into the player he isnt punting long ball up the line which usually find row z

Lets hope Sammy Lee allows both Hunt and Samuel to get forward this season and overlap the wingers/wide midfielders and we might see a better Nicky Hunt.

Did anybody watch chivas game did we not end game with hunt at left back and sinclair at right back?

Maybe LSL sees Sinclair as a replacement but from what I've seen/heard hes no full back in a million years.

Did anybody answer my question the other day about Joey OB and if he's near fitness. I was told hes some way off full fitness.
