Nic: Bolton Must Get Reality Cheque

Nic: Bolton must get reality cheque

Nicolas Anelka has cheekily claimed Bolton could sell him because they need the cash.

Anelka has been at the centre of the summer's longest transfer saga with Manchester United, Arsenal, Portsmouth and West Ham all declaring an interest.

But now he claims the end could be in sight with just nine days to go before the transfer window slams shut.

The former Arsenal and Liverpool striker has made no secret of his desire to play in the Champions League - and claims Bolton are ready to cash in on him just a year after buying him from Fenerbahce for ?8million.

"Even if I feel comfortable, the club need money, so it is possible that I will leave before the close of the transfer window," said the French international.

Boss Sammy Lee has admitted for the first time that he could be forced to sell the much-travelled Anelka, claiming he has already started looking for a replacement.

Wanderers would want up to ?12m for Anelka, their top scorer last season with 14 goals and who has bagged two of their three goals so far this term.

Anelka, 28, is keen to leave the Reebok and is no fan of the new regime after Sam Allardyce. Lee is understood to have put his squad on a weights programme to build up their muscles - and Anelka considers this a waste of time for a player of his natural ability. Bolton are also bottom of the Premier League after losing their first three games and he does not want to spend the season fighting relegation.

Anelka has signalled his determination to move to a bigger English club by publicly ruling out a move to Lyon.

Alain Perrin, boss of the French champions, had identified him as one of Lyon's main targets, but the player insists he does not want to go home.

"The English league is the most media exposed, the more exciting and nicer to watch," said Anelka.

"I have nothing against Lyon. They are a good club, but I won't return and play in France.

It's a definite no. There is zero chance of me joining Lyon."

To compound Lee's problems, El Hadji Diouf is also pushing for a move and complains Bolton are blocking his exit by demanding ?10m for him.

Bolton are ready to pull the plug on the sale of Abdoulaye Faye to Newcastle - because of a row over the fee.

The Senegalese star has been left out of Lee's side for the last two games and has also been to Allardyce's club for a medical.

But now Wanderers are poised to curtail the week-long talks because the Toon have failed to match their ?2m asking price and how they want it paid.

In the style of another thread..

PG: Right now 2m is a bit of a steal but I'm prepared to let Faye go

SA: I'd like that in a cheque for ?1.5m and 500K cash please :)

PG: Your taking the piss.....

SA: No

PG: Why do you want it in cash

SA: Well I'm going to give it to charity but we must keep it under the radar

PG: Does this charity go by the name 'Craig'

SA: Err .... no

PG: Do you think i'm stupid... after you dragged the clubs name through dirt you try this, How very dare you!

SA: Its going to charity...

PG: GET OUT!

SA: ok :(

Why would SA be taking the cash?

Surely he will be giving PG the ?2M to sign one of our players?

I had a late night / early morning! :pardon:

I appreciate that Nicolas is concerned about the financial state of the club and is only trying to help us out by leaving us in the shit, i mean moving on to another club, but maybe if he were to consider donating some of his massive wages to help keep the club afloat? We could call it something like 'The Burnden Lifeline'.
