Wba Goal Offside

Featured Replies

motd2 are saying he is offside, even though it came off the defender because he is gaining an advantage???

eh, when can that ever be offside?

if the bloke wants to stand on the goalline waiting for defender to give him the ball, then so be it.

offside my arse!

If a player is coming back from an offside position then he should not be allowed to touch the ball until he has spun around four times while taking his shirt off then putting it back on again - simple.

he was clearly (by about 20 yards) offside when the original ball from th WBA defender was played foward. As the ball didnt change direction when the Bristol defender headed it, I can't see how anyone can say he was onside.

he was

I agree.

This is so annoying. 'It came off the Rovers player'

SO WHAT

The original ball was heading towards Miller and he should have been flagged offside

not offside ? absolutely unbelievable - just becasue the defender tries to head clear in case Phillips runs on to it doesn't mean someone stood 2-0 yards offside becomes on-side.

i presume this is a wind up however

Phase 1: Miller is coming back from an offside position and is making no attempt to interfere with play. RESULT: Not offside

Phase 2: As the ball comes off a Bristol player Miller cannot be offside and therefore was allowed to advance with the ball.

It's a bull sh?t rule but, hey!

when does phase 1 end and phase 2 start, given that the ball would have gone to Miller if the defender hadn't touched it ?

I blame the rise in female football fans for the current shambles we call the offside rule.

Back in the good old days, when women stayed at home whilst we went to the game, the offside rule was very simple, but women didn't understand it: hence we could chat away without interruptions.

Then football became the middle-class opera and women started attending: they got a grasp of the rules and now it has become necessary to change them!
