April 26, 200818 yr we obviously need 3 points against sunderland. we want spurs to beat Reading at Reading, what are we wanting from Fulham v Brum? A fulham win or a draw? Who do Fulham play last game? Dingles will do us no favours at Brum last day obviously
April 26, 200818 yr Let's get the 'we beat sunderland' bit right first and then worry about the 'what ifs' afterwards.
April 26, 200818 yr Let's get the 'we beat sunderland' bit right first and then worry about the 'what ifs' afterwards. you telling me by 5.15pm next Saturday you won't of had a peek of the result from Craven Cottage? I'm trying to work out the likelihood of going to Chelsea needing something if anything. With Fulham now back in the mix and if they beat Brum at home which they can do easily who have they got last game or will goal diff see us safe from Fulham? If so I imagine we are hoping ideally for a Fulham win providing we beat Sunderland as you say.
April 26, 200818 yr If..... We beat Sunderland - we will be on 36 points and a goal difference of -19 or better If Reading lose to Spurs they will be on 33 points with a GD of -29 or worse If Fulham lose to Brum they would only have 30 points so...unless we get thumped by Chelsea and Reading murder Blackburn in the last game of the season we are save. If we draw we would only have 34 points with only Chelsea away to play - (gulp). We would then require two of the following Reading to get no more than one point from their last two games - spurs home, Derby away - in order to stay below us - we have a better GD Brum to get no more than one point from their last two games - Fulham away, Blackburn at home - in order to stay below us - we have a worse GD Fulham to get no more than four point from their last two games - Brum home, Pompy away (Pompy's last game before they play in the Cup Final) - in order to stay below us - we have a better GD So we really must win against Sunderland and not worry too much about the other results - a draw or loss - although would not relegate us on the day - would really mean a win at Chelsea to have any chance of saving ourselves - which would seem very unlikely. April 26, 200818 yr Fulham will beat Birmingham Reading will hopefully lose to Spurs. If those happen, we need one win to stay up.
April 27, 200818 yr Our season rests pure and simpley on the result at 17.15hrs next saturday the 03/05/2008,win stay up,draw maybe, lose no chance
April 27, 200818 yr Our season rests pure and simpley on the result at 17.15hrs next saturday the 03/05/2008,win stay up,draw maybe, lose no chance Unfortunately that is not the case - a win would not ensure that we stay up unless other results went our way on the day too. See my post above for a fuller explanation.

April 27, 200818 yr Boro : 36pts GD -19 Pompey H , Massives H Bowton : 33pts GD -20 Sundayland H , Chelski A Reading : 33pts GD -28 Spuds H, Derby A Brum : 32pts GD -17 Fulham A, Dingles H Fulham : 30pts GD -25 Brum H, Pompey A For me, ideal scenario would be for Fulham to beat Brum and Spuds to win at Reading, then if we then beat Sundayland at 5.15, it would take something extraordinary for us to drop.
