I initially thought that giving the programme away was a bad idea because with it being Stoke's first match in the top flight since 1985, sales would have been high.However, being given a free copy may spark an interest in buying programmes at future games for some Bolton fans and that is a good thing.

 

As for the programme i hope there is more historical content in it than last season.The editor ought to know that without articles on the history of the fixture then the programme won't feature in the Programme Monthly top 3.

A 2 page spread on a previous Bolton v Stoke fixture and a 2 page interview with an ex Bolton/Stoke player would suffice.

 

Last season's programme had plenty reading material but much of it had nothing to do with the match being played.

 

An example of a quality article in a programme was in the 2004/05 Spurs v Bolton which had a few words on ex Spurs wingerTommy Bing who made his one and only Tottenham league appearance in a match against Bolton in October 1957.

Details like that are what turn an average programme into a good one.
