If you were selecting a plumber from the Yellow Pages (or the like) would you always choose one who was "Corgi" registered? Or one that was "Gas Safety Registered"?

 

It seems that Corgi lost out to Capita (congestion charge company) to run the government's gas safety compliance and therefore you need to be looking out for a completely different symbol when searching for a reliable plumber.

 

Branding disaster! Everyone recognises the Corgi symbol...... you know, the orange shield - apparently 93% of us would recognise this instantly and what it stood for. However, Capita have chosen a non-descript yellow triangle with Gas Safety Register on it. Very bland. They're expecting 40% of us to know what it is by October. But I bet there's less than 1% of you who know what it is and what it stands for.

 

What I don't know is, if I now use a Corgi registered plumber who isn't Gas Safety Registered - does that make my insurance invalid? And am I breaking the law?

As far as I am aware, Corgi registration is vaild until 31/3/09, after that the gas safety registered thing takes over.

 

So I would think that as long as the paperwork they provide is within this date and they are bona fide, you should be fine.

Phoned a plumber and said i'd got a leak under the sink. he told me to put it with the rest of the vegetables.

i also rang my local plumber complaining i had a leek....he tod me to get a GRIP of my self.
