Off to New York in July without the monsters for 3 nights with the Mrs.

 

 

Too many hotels to choose from, so where better to go for recommendations then on WW! So, come on then lads and lasses - where have you stayed in The Big Apple and was it any good?

Thinking of going to New York this year or next year.

 

What time of year would you recommend? Dont like it too hot though

 

Who would you recommend flight wise?

last time i went, prices went down nicely by ?100 or so after 1st September when they went off peak

Went with Delta first time, wasn't bad a few film/beers 7 hours didn't seem so bad. Conntinental in 3 weeks, so will let you know when we returm if you like.

 

Don't mind the cold, but i been told either just before xmas or in September is a nice time to go. The thing is there is just too much to do and see.

Stayed at gresham with mrs moose 3 years ago. Superb location just off time square and although not a massive hotel ideal for cleanliness, friendliness etc

mate stayed at radio city aps and said it was brill.

We went early oct and was fine. Nice weather in the day but a chill somewhat at night.

If you go from mid nov everything takes a hike up in prices including, hotels, taxis etc so what may seem a cheap flight may not mean a cheap break

Couldn't decide if to book early now for July or wait for any late bargains but you know what its like, once you start looking you end up too tempted to then wait! Plus many have said that what you gain on a possible cheap hotel deal with leaving it late, you'll probably lose on the flight costs having increased!

 

So 3 nights of Sofitel 4* luxury and Continental direct flights from Manchester booked for under our budget.

Stayed at the Muse in September '08 (think it's on 46th St - right near Time Square). It was for a conference so I didn't pay but it was a fantastic hotel.

Also, spent a night at the Hudson and that was very good - the rooftop terrace was amazing.

 

Only stayed for 3 nights so hoping to go back around September time.
