Interesting article, Coyle doesn't seem that impressed with it

didn't Arse get Kyle Bartley from our academy?

he's off out on loan to Sheff U

A mate of mine works is on the coaching staff at the academy, the kids that they bring in are based on a "brief" from the manager on the type of players he wants for the future. Gary Megson was not interested so most of the players there currently there are from the BSA long ball e'ra and a lot of good players were released as they did not fit the brief.

Hopefully Owen Coyle will change this and we will see more young player coming through, the coaches are also working more with the kids aged 9-11 where historicaly they get distracted by other things and lose interest.

If young players move to 'bigger' clubs than Bolton then that player must be tallented and brave to leave a premier league academy. I would perhaps see if they are still at the 'bigger' club in two years!

As for better coaches... how is the player/parent aware of this before they make a move? The coaches themselves are not aware of the age groups they are taking until pre season so how does a parent know what coach they are getting and how good he is?

For the record I think that Bolton have some very good coaches.
