Unplug some shit.

Turn all the breakers off and then put them on one by one until one trips, if its tripping the main breaker though then it sounds like a biggie.

In the circuit box is there just one switch or a few circuits covering different areas of the house ?

 

unplug everything in house and then try switch again, if it works then plug one thing in at time till it does not work and that is what is causing the problem.

 

i work in a bank so if anyone who is qualified to give advice contradicts me, then listen to them instead.

Had everything unplugged put switch on stayed on started plugging stuff back in absolutly nothing, looks like electrition tomorrow early bed for me tonight

Wire your freezer into your light socket then. Simple.
