How much do they go for, is it worth me flogging them, or better to just let them collect dust on principle?

See what the going rate is on Ebay for said products. Easy.

 

Just as an example though, the basic first generation Nanos are going for ?20+.

 

If there's folk out there who'll cross your palm with silver for something that's never going to see light of day at your house then it's a no-brainer. Get 'em sold.

Your unneeded old Apple shit will probably end up being some kids main Christmas present. With us having a surprise extra one this year we have had to get stuff free/on the cheap wherever possible this time round.

 

Just imagine how good you'll feel knowing some kid who was expecting fuck all is chuffed to bits because of you.

 

If you do give them away though, set up an email for it, don't use your own. Also you will have to wade through all the sob stories and carbooters etc. I put their email in facebook and see if what they say adds up.

I've give away loads of stuff on Freegle - stuff that's either too big to ship (or too much of a hassle), like my daughter cot, or things that have so little value it's not worth the hassle of E-bay (CD's etc). It is quite a nice feeling ... and those people will have anything. Just about to put a sideboard and a double-bed on there.

Apple are ace for stuff like that though. Lst week I frazzled my iPhone plugging it into a shitty cheap car charger. Years out of warranty and they gave me a shiny new one for the price of a battery.

For every genuine case - someone who's skint and is willing to swallow pride, there's usually about 10 parasites who'd try and sell the steam off their shit if they could.

A genuine person will take whatever your offering - even if they just intend binning it (out of politeness). A car booter however, will umm and ahh over the free stuff on offer, like they're doing you a favour.

 

And another thing, those scroungebags (not Charity shop ones) you get through the door claiming donations are sent to developing countries (insinuating for free distribution) are actually sold on - with about 5% of the profit going to a random charity to cover themselves. It's all sorted and graded, the tatty stuff gets recycled into 'rag' - but, for example, last seasons Wanderers/Chelsea/Liverpool etc. shirt or a dress from a decent high street shop will be sold for about ?10-12 (in equivalent local currency) in a market in W. Africa.

 

Old mobiles, ones not worth reselling (those put in recycle bins), get shipped off to places where someone will spend all day earning about ?3 whilst breathing toxic fumes, to recover the gold/silver/platinum/vibrating mineral stuff...

 

My uncharitable, suspicious, misanthropic nature has got the better of me recently, and unwanted stuff usually meets my lump hammer then the landfill bin or gets ripped up/burned in my brazier

Those old clothes collection bags get right on my tits. We filled a couple once for bona fide charities and they never collected. When we didn't have stuff we left them outside the door so the bag can be reused - 50% of the time they never collected those either. They just go straight in the bin now.

Sold an ancient Apple digital camera to a collector last year for more than i paid for it. It was about A5 size, used two AA batteries and took a grand total of 16 'low-res' photos or 8 'high-res' photos, before it had to be connected to a computer to download them.

I gave some book cases to a charity shop the other week. Ok, they were only Ikea, but they were practically new. The owd git came to the car, had a look, then looked down his nose and said I could bring them in. Cheers for helping me, mate.

British Heart Foundation will pick them up from you. I gave them some Ikea stuff recently, all in good nick and all gratefully received by them.
