Big Sam Dingle

None are more bitter than many of the BWFC fans he left behind. I don't blame them. We lost the best BWFC manager; best results and achievements in my living memory after decades of being a long suffering Bolton fan.

Top man in my eyes and I can forgive his sly digs every now and then. As is documented on this site earlier in the season, I wish him and West Ham every success in their efforts to get back into the PL. We need the annual 6 points :D

  • I'm sure his accent is going more black country with every interview. Undoubtedly our best manager of recent times, but also a twat of the highest order. Left Notts County to come to us for a 10 year

  • Very bitter, dodgy dye job/syrup haired potato headed tosser.

What I eventually realised is that for Sam it was never about the club. We were just a vehicle to promote the cult of Big Sam. Could have been any fecker.

A bit like your Milliband brothers then?

Totally lost me there skippy. Sure it makes sense, but I'm just a numb fecker

Which was what I was trying to get to with Globetrotter, but he didn't seem to want to play.

One of the least endearing egos I've ever come across.

You're far from numb Michael so desist from calling me Skippy, right? A racist slur akin to calling an Indian the 'P' word.

Just attempting to push your buttons. You are more entertaining in a rage :D

The days of rage are far gone lad.

I just wallow in a sea of apathy these days, much more fun.

I have said on here months ago that this very same arrogance is what wr celebrated when he refused to go cap in hand to the big boys ...

Only when it suited him

I remember many folk moaning about his team selections at Old Trafford for example.....and yes I know we got results there too

His arrogance was indeed helpful at times but it was oft misguided too. I'll never forget his vitriolic letter back to Marple after he dared complain at spending his own tone and money to see Allardyce pick a reserve team that got slaughtered at White Hart Lane in an embarrassment of a game

And let's not forget hi last 6 months+ where his obvious apathy and general "sulking" showed more disdain for the paying public

Allardyce would use the fans, like he would the club, for his own personal success; at least others like Coyle appear to actually give a shit that's we spend our hard earned on him and his lot

Successful yes, but a good bloke? Not for me, an this isn't with hindsight, I said it on here at the time

You can't argue with this achievements at this club, you really can't. That stands him head and shoulders above many others. Although personally, I think much of the groundwork for our current achievments was done by Bruce Rioch and to be honest, a bit by Phil Neal, even if he was a fuckwit most of the time. Rioch moved us from low league to contenders with no money and little else to attract players. He did it with a football brain and a desire to play good, attacking football.

But as others have said, the Allardyce attitude towards the end of his time at Bolton and his attitude towards the club since (mainly as part of his ongoing spat with Gartside) has really knocked him down. His eye went off the ball when the England job was mentioned, his last 6 months were dreadful (after he'd probably decided to leave) and in the end, he left when the squad needed major work. He dumped the ongoing problems on his assistant and ultimately on Megson. Not helped by taking all the backroom staff to really stitch us up.

I don't think he hates the club, but always get the feeling he wants us to fail because:

1. It looks better for him - Big Sam keeping l'il l' Bolton in the Prem.

2. It's one in the eye for Gartside.

Great manager, not a great person.

Spot on.

And Sammy Lee - great person, not a great manager.
