Kinell, you go away for a week and come back and everything has changed!

Been on the Gold Coast for a week at the National Scooter Rally. For those of a scootering bent:-

The usual Franny. I caught the tail end of Mod in the 60's (it had died in London when they went psychedelic - Small Faces Ogden Gone Nut Flake era) but the fires were kept buring up north, especially with our love for blues and soul which has never died.

'69 came around and the skinhead era (the non racist one based on the impeccable style of our West Indian mates) and the scooters stayed. In London, skins, suedes, smoothies and Mods used to fight each other. Not up north. We sort of became an amalgam of all of them (with a common enemy in the rocker-greaser-grebo-neb scruffydom) and, in my opinion, still are even though it went through other sub cultures like casuals etc. Scooters common through the entire thread. Fire still burns brightly today. Scootering and Northern Soul massive allies down here. 99-9% ex-pats of course.

Anyway, here is a bit more of last weeks happenings. Enjoy or don't.
