January 17, 201313 yr Below the Market Hall - Knowsley Street side. Romantic that I am - wedding at Boton Registry Office, reception at The Lamplighter (discounted because grandfather was bar manager at Smithills Coaching House - the two were owned by the same folk) night do at The Trotters. Then some misguided souls call me Bruce. Pah!
January 18, 201313 yr Posted before about the Lamplighter, after a belly full of ale and the ruck or two after a match, i got sick of going into Normans Chippy on Newport St, and went to eat some proper nosh and meet up with the lads later in the Griff. It was about 50p dearer to eat in the Lamplighter but worth it.
January 18, 201313 yr Our kid used to be a washer upper on Saturdays in there. Did it turn into the Pickwick or summat? Or was that a part of it or somewhere else?
January 18, 201313 yr If you stood with your back pretty much at Victoria Hall, look over to Market Hall and note the big entrance doors. Lamplighter used to disappear down steps to the left of that door.
