What did you think of it?

 

I'll be quaffing with the author tonight, he'd appreciate the info.

 

Half way through reading it and think its brilliant maybe it's not for everyone but I love the detail and history. Good piece of history and pleased its been preserved in this piece.

I remember going down to Burnden during the close season when they were putting up the anti hooligan fencing and they'd dug up an old glass bottle with the cork pushed inside. I used to collect the at the time and they were good enough to give to me. Probably dated back to the 1920's

Didn't realise that we were renting the Embankment End from the railway company, or that it there was an original plan to build a stand on that end of the ground, but it was shelved because the train driver wouldn't be able to see the signal box from his cab with a stand roof in the way!
