Thinking of doing a USA trip next year...

 

San Fransisco (her), Vegas (me) and maybe somewhere else.

 

 

I am tempted by fly to New York, then fly to San Fran and then onto Vegas and back from there.

 

I know NY is a long way from SF so considering Chicago..

 

 

Any tips or suggestions of places to book with ? Her 50th so budget seems to be pretty good ! 

Seattle is a great place. Depends whether you want City sights for a few days or relaxation. Seattle has whales watching and Mount Rainier which for me was more impressive than yosemite

Done it twice, both times with NY as either a start / finish leg - that's not a problem

 

I'd suggest going NYC but you need 4 minimum, maybe 5 nights

 

Then LV for 2 or 3 nights then drive through Death Valley & Yosemite on your way to San Fran (couple of nights on route)

 

If you've got time head down the big sur to LA, fantastic

 

Thomas cook now fly direct from Manchester to LA, San Fran as well as Vegas so you have loads of options to go at

 

In terms of things to do in those places, the list is endless, firm up your itinerary and I'd be happy to give more recommendations for food & things to do

We started in SF and finished in Vegas, seemed the natural route. Via Yosemite, Carmel, Big Sur, Santa Barbara, Venice, Anaheim, Newport Beach, San Diego. Other than Anaheim, I could quite happily spend more time in each of those places. 

 

Have looked at LA flights a few times with TC, not seen SF flights with them though.

 

PS. Blew all the budget on flights and excursions. So decent hotels weren't really a priority. Pretty sure Jules did California for his honeymoon, so guessing he will have stayed in much nicer places.

If you pass through Reno between San Francisco and Las Vegas (slightly long way around, but Tahoe is beautiful to see) let me know. I'd love to meet a fellow WWayer and buy them a pisswater American beer.

 

In fact, you could let me know when you're in San Fran and I could pop over and say howdy.

You have to be a little careful at the moment, highway 1 has been collapsing into the ocean this past year.

Snoop, do you ever get down to Laughlin? I've seen some of the Hogs n Heifers photos from down there when they go on their bike rally at the end of April - looks like a good few days away. Plenty of 'characters' by the look of it

Flew to LA stayed 4nights shook hands with Diana Ross .then drove to San Fran for 3 nights .Next stop onto Vegas breaking up the journey for a night in Bakersfield just a straight run into Vegas ,what a place loved it !!.payed like £150 for Sat night £40 Sunday & Monday.When driving back to LA just on the road outside Vegas loads of cars ditched at side of road people hadn't got the money to fill up their cars .The last 2 nights we had in Santa Monica .one of the best hols I've ever had.

Nah mate, that's a good 9 hour drive from here.

 

We do have our own bike rally up in Reno though called Street Vibrations. That's usually a good scene. Also we have Hot August Nights which is a classic car rally.
