Debt in Football

The collapse of the stockmarket will put a lot of clubs in a far worse position than us in the next few months.

Can see a number of clubs going to the wall very soon.

Billions will have been wiped off club shares, but most of the owners will  have taken a bigger hit and may want to offload.

Good, it's whats needed.  Too much money for the few, not enough for the majority, I hope it can even things out a little more for those that cut their cloth accordingly and run their clubs properly.

Hopefully Ken Anderson. Will take over one ;)

Does the club's value at any given time actually matter?

If its not being sold, making money and servicing it's debt then things should be fine.

I can see the point about a larger parent company perhaps having to think twice though.

We are in a ok position where as we have little debt . The shares are not floated and are held by I think three maybe four people.

The will be clubs out there whose value beforehand was say  100m and had 120m of debt......Today that club may be valued at 70m with 120m debt. Plus now the will be a hell of a lot of creditors pushing to be paid.

As long as they can service the debt the share price means nothing. Man U prime example.
