Not convinced by that myself IF we get a couple more decent signings otherwise another mid table mediocre season affair for us I reckon, which compared to the dark days of LSL still counts as a good season in my book
-
glad weve sorted that one out then !

If You Could Have One Player Back..............
Taffy White replied to onlyoneawalker's topic in Terrace Talk - 'Classics'
As club man Per Fransen in his pomp for me apart fom the last game of the season when he rounded the chelsea keeper and slotted it wide ! and his breif fling with the dingles but that wasnt his fault -
so to sum things up, relegation and harking back to the days of lost youth is not in the best interest of the club nor its owner and generally speaking most football clubs prosper by the backing of wealthy people ?
-
and your conclusion is ...?
-
so whats the answer to the questions you asked bollock chops ?

I dont understand this "we were better off when times were worse" school of thought. Things could be better certainly - but there are probably 70 + clubs who would swap places with us tomorrow.

bookies stopped taking bets on him leaving earlier today

sounds as blinkered as the burn your houses down chip on the shoulder mob that live around me but probably not worth dwelling on -
No Chance Of Scottish Clubs In Epl

Starting with Dai Jones and ending with Sam Ricketts not forgetting Wynne Davies, David Felgate, Nathan Blake and Gary Speed amongst others -
If Sky go bust - we and many others clubs will follow pretty sharpish
-
Fine by me - but we'll have to get used to a lot less Sky money pretty sharpish and the quality of the football is likely to slide.

There have been a few comments on here that next season will be make or break for Megson. For some pricks that will always be the case, as what ever he achieves wont be good enough, but for the more objective folk out there what should define if Megson is made or broke next season? my two penneth.... our average season end Premeriership position is 12th. Given that we were 20th when Megson took us over and we are now hovering around the average at 13th place this has to represent significant progress. A top half finish next season would be a further step forward and would be clearly a "make" season. A similar mid table finish should be no reason to get hysterical. A relegation dog fight (even if we survive) would probably represent a "break" point for me.

Probably the most boring season for over a decade but the consensus amongst the Taffs at the start of the season was that a boring season would be welcome compared to the last one. There are 70 odd teams in the football league who would snatch your hand off for the season weve just had.

Not sure what Ive said that allows me to join such esteemed company ???

This is a wider problem than just ours, many clubs are going through the same problems. part of football died when the Prem was set up. its no longer about the quest for glory for all but a handfull but the fear of what relegation means if they get relegated and lose the sky cash that drives most clubs. How this gets sorted out is beyond me but Gartsides plan for a 2 tier Prem is clearly in many clubs interest but it doesnt appeal to me

I have followed Wanderers for 40 years and have never been so disappointed or so vitriolic against one individual as effin Muamaba..............sorry why who else has been on your list of hate ?
-
That may be true but Megson inherited the Squad that LSL built and got shot of most of em sharpish. hes trying to rebuild slowly but the tricks that Big Sam pulled in signing JJ Youri etc are no longer as easy.

I think he has got it in him to be a decent player as he matures - almost the opposite of Nolan who seems to have peaked early in his career but floundered since
-
what we really need is somone in midfield who can take the pressure off by putting their foot on the ball and spraying decent passes - easier said than done but it would give decent service to Elmander who I still think has goals in him.(he is clearly low on confidence) it would also help Muamba break up play and then pass it off in the same way that speed used to. It might also give him some encouragement to crack a few rather than looking to pass. We also need somone to partner Cahill at centre back but thats obvious to most.

so in brief summary of all thats been said, if we stay in the Prem were ok - if we get relegated were in deep sh1T ?
