When I had a scan at 20 wks with my daughter I was told she had spina bifida and was offered a termination if I wanted. I obviously did not take the offer,I had already become attatched to this baby moving and kicking inside of me . She does have spina bifida occulta, and had major surgery as a baby, but if you did not know she had it you would be non the wiser. Think i'm on the fence on this issue, if it's related to a woman being raped then I feel it's the best decision, but if it's simply due to someone being foolish enough to have unprotected sex then I think it's unfair and irresponsible. There was a programme on TV a few months ago showing actual abortions, it was very graphic, and quite heart rendering to see how formed the feotus (sp?) were. When I say I sit on the fence I fear that my daughter could come home and tell me she is pregnant.........what would I do then???? It's a hard one!
