March 16Mar 16 We all know they are fucked but when they shut em why cant they do a proper job. Im talking specifically about Dicconson lane junction of A6 here but it happens all over. They shut it in the daytime for almost 4 fucking days it caused proper issues around us . Anyway what did they give us a silky smooth billiard table job with lots of fresh paint and new barriers. No they patched it up .it looks fucking well. If there is only a bit of money fair enough but get it done in a day and on to next. Patch up. They found cash to install new average speed cameras to enforce a 30 limit that no one needs. Wankers
March 16Mar 16 There's temporary lights all over the place at the moment. 3 sets alone on 1 mile of the A6 between Chequerbent and Wingates. After lockdown, with many of those continuing to wfh, I thought the roads would be quieter. They seem busier than ever.

It's like driving on Mars. the main road into our village was awful a few months ago, they came and filled in all the holes, and it was lovely for about a month, it's now worse than ever, as the repair jobs have all but disintegrated, and the holes are wider and deeper than they were before.

With plans that regular maintenance would offset the difference in longevity. Since then the amount of traffic using the roads has sky rocketed and the budgets have crashed. Leading to a point where billions are needed to fix the problems

I don’t recognise that statement at all tbh , what road types / work types are you referring to there? surface type of a road is based on loads of things, as is the standard for any repair , no blanket decision to use cheaper methods could be adopted nationwide, everyone works to the SROH ? How would they regularly maintain tarmac? Most roads are either asphalt or concrete anyway ?

When it came to resurfacing schemes the national standard was to use thin surface course tarmac/bitmac as it was a quicker and cheaper job. Occasionally on longer straight runs asphalt was used but we had enough problems stopping folk driving on the bitmac whilst it cured nevermind asphalt
