was a fair few shots.. but they seemed to be playing long ball to diouf.. which isnt going to work.. picked up the game after the goal.. but for most of the match seemed content to be 1-0 up.. which they shouldnt be doing. referee didnt help matters,

we were as excellent as you can be when you miss so many chances

 

first half up there with the best i've seen us play

In the first half we were superb, bit too much showboating but one of the best halves for a long while. Diouf, Okocha, Stelios and Hierro were absolute class.

 

Cracking chance to finish it early in the second when Diouf skied it.

 

Then the game changed when the elbows and arms started flying and the ref didn't see any of it.

 

We had a ridiculous amout of chances to score and really should have. Southampton were garbage at the back but Philips and Crouch were always dangerous.

 

To call Southampton shite is just utter ignorant bollocks, they've been in the top division since we went up together in '77, and stayed there whilst we were visiting Scarborough, Halifax, Aldershot, Newport County, Rochdale, Chester, Shrewsbury, Bury, need I go on?

we were good at points in the match.. but for a lot of it our whole game was dire sitting back on a lead.. not making enough of chances.. southampton did play well and we didnt play well enough.. i know its still a point.. but we could have had more.,
