Another plea! Could everyone who has not filled in the coupon that as been printed daily in the Bolton Evening News since December please, please copy and print the below one off and fill it in and send it the support campaign to keep the neo natal intensive care unit at Bolton and support its campaign to enhance the superb service they already give at the hospital.

I have a daughter who is now 7 years old who was born at 29 weeks and the unit give her the future she as now. Seeing my daughter in the neo natal intensive care unit and praying for each day was devestating enough but because of the care she received from the doctors and nurses she got stronger. Without them my daughter would not be here today. They where/are superb.

 

I am sure there are lots of people on WanderersWays and also people who you all know who will have similar stories to mine so its important that we do our bit.

 

I AM NOT ASKING FOR MONEY BUT PLEASE, PLEASE WILL EVERYONE SUPPORT THE CAMPAIGN AND FILL IN THE COUPON.

 

YOU AND YOUR FAMILY MIGHT NEED IT THEMSELVES ONE DAY!

Take it from me, as my youngest was moved to Leeds Neo-Natal (Specialist Unit) for 3 weeks, you don't want to be away from home if you do need it.

I was born at Hope, my Daughter was born at hope, in fact all my family was born at hope.

 

So I will be signing the Hope petition I am afraid.

That is because the NHS/government have intentions of scrapping local maternity wards in favour of a 'super site' which will cover the whole of the Greater Manchester, if not North West area.

 

The Princess Anne Maternity Ward, along with Hope hospital (and other local maternity wards) are obviously against this idea, hence the reason why all are petitioning to keep the wards open.

 

My son was born at Bolton four months ago and it was all just coming out in the papers then. Staff etc at the Princess Anne Ward were bordering on brilliant so i will be filling out one of these forms and returning it.

Same here Salford but with Fairfield in Bury. My wife is expecting our second later this month and hopefully we will not need to use the special care baby unit at Bury but it is good to know that if we do, we will not have to be moved to a 'super site' somewhere in North Manchester.

All local baby units need support. I have two kids in and out all the time, although they are older now.

I totally agree with you. The NHS / Government is forcing people to support their local unit in the belief that some may stay open against others that will close.

I am of the opinion that the decisions have already been made and regional 'super-sites' is the future.

 

As you say though, no harm in showing our support.

I agree with the sentiments expressed here, and as some of you will know, three of my children have spent time being treated by the fantastic staff at Townleys (its real name!).

 

However, I think it's easy to lose sight of what is really important here.

It shouldn't be a case of where they build these centres, but it should ALWAYS be about the level of care that can be provided and if that means pooling various hospitals' resources into these super centres, then for me, that's the way to go.

Being in bedford i didn't know about the campaign, i have printed and sent it off. I was lucky enough for my kids to be born without any problems. I can't imagine how hard it is for the parents of children in neo natal, and its thanks to the staff and care they give that often give the parents strength. I'm glad your daughter was able to receive that too.

Mrs Breightmet's daughter lost her son after 15 hours in October just gone at neonatal at RBH so i will be signing to help make sure it never happens again O:)

I'm afraid i can't get onto a direct link for this at the moment (i.e..filling in the "coupon" that is mentioned)...my computer's poo...if anyone can help i'd be grateful..either a different link or feel free to put my user-name down as part of a petition (if it works like that!)...

Basically i came on to see how the land lies before we play you twice this coming week,then saw this.... well,this sort of thing is going on all over the country,sadly...amazing how there's enough money in this country to go to war at a moment's notice,yet people still have to go cap in hand for the really important things ...it's not right...
