But it's our shite of which we should be proud !

 

i) every team wants a long throw-in specialist.

ii) even the top teams now play around at the corner flag if they are winning and there are only a few minutes to go.

iii) everyone goes in hard and tight against the top paid "don't hurt me hairstyle" players (thinking here of Arsenal !!!)

iv) All smaller clubs want success on a shoestring

 

Let's just say that we are trend setters!!!

In the last 5 minutes of every game in every competition, if a team is losing, they start throwing the big men forward and everything goes into the box, they scrap for every ball, hoping for that ONE lucky bounce to go their way and lead to the equalising goal.

That is called POMO. Position of Maximum Opportunity. It was developed by a native of Bolton, Charles Hughes who was manager of the England Amateur Team. His family lived in Ladybridge and his father was my boss once upon a time.
