I disagree strongly, we were really poor today all over the park. They missed more chances that they would ever get against Chelsea or Arsenal.

Their movement and passing in the opening 20 minutes was as good as anything that you will see from Arsenal and their defending (Vidic in particular) was as good as you will see from Chelsea. Put those together and I'm afraid we were always in trouble.

Utd were excellent.

We were very poor.

The 4-0 scoreline flattered us IMO.

They could have had at least 5 in the 1st half.

We were lucky to get none.

Their defending was top class, but we lacked the guile to change our approach. I have no problem accepting we were beaten by a better team, but we were poor, really poor, and they took advantage. They won't get chance to do that against any of the top teams.

I'll be honest, I didn't notice Carrick much but Scholes was top notch. Stelios, Campo and Speed were all poor.

This is true, but I put it down to the fact he had been placed there deliberately, tactically, by Fergie. Such is the weakness of a true 4-3-3.

The main problem yesterday was that we seemed to approach the game like Newcastle away, where we also struggled in the 1st half; our midfield were extremely deep, which isolated Anelka completely. How many times did he have the ball with nobody supporting him? Hence the ball coming straight back. Fergie isn't daft and he pushed Evra forward as often as possible, therefore pulling Davies back and largely inaffective as an attacking force.

 

The difference yesterday was that Utd are far better than Newcastle and capitalised.

 

When we were a couple down we seemed to press them a bit further up the pitch, which is what we're best at. We did struggle creatively, but their defence was excellent too.

 

Have to say I thought Haim did very well on the occasions he was left isolated with Ronaldo running at him but once again Giggs was superb - he has to be the best player overall that's played against us in the last 10 years. It's only testiment to our achievements this season that Fergie seemed to have them so up for this match.

 

Yes they played Stiles well and he wasn't very consistent but that doesn't count for much. Let's just hope that lessons were learnt from quality opposition and we bouce back in a much more important game next week against a Wigan side who notched up an impressive win yesterday.

 

We're only 3rd in the league after a quarter of the season!
