RIP Bally

Don't know how true it was but, when we won the World Cup, the story came out that Bally jumped on the bus at Moses Gate to get down to Burnden for a trial. BWFC told him he would never make it in the game because he was too short. Blackpool took the chance and he became a World Cup winner at a very young age.

 

Sad loss. A true legend of English football who will always be remembered. Top bloke.

 

 

It was on the news today that the Bolton manager at the time told him words to the effect - never mind I'm sure you'll make a good jocky. Words which he regretted in later years.

his sister is my godmother so i knew him quite well....was a big bolton fan till he was turned away by them swore he would never follow them again but all his family big bolton fans! one family member is actually in boltons youth academy!!!

Mrs. K. used to drive "grandma Ball" - Bessie - to Blackpool and Goodison and all over, to watch young Alan play.
