So if Wayne Rooney ducks out of a vital Euro qualifier against Russia on a freezing Wednesday night in Moscow in November, yet is miraculously fit to play for the rags on the Saturday, that would be OK then?

 

 

I doubt that'd happen as

1. He might be a prick but it's quite obvious he'd go on the pitch in a wheelchair if needs must to play for his country.

2. He's not bright enough to be 'fatigued'. He's like a 6 month old whippet.

3. He's still young, like Bentley.

 

 

 

BTW, if Hughes was English or Bentley was Welsh, do you not think maybe it would've been a different outcome.

Probably not. Hughes is trying to protect a young player by refusing to let him risk injury in a meaningless tournament.

i can see a difference if the game is during the season rather during the summer holidays.

 

there should be some guidance about how often the africans cup is played, can not do much about when.

The same would happen if Paul Scholes, who retired from (sorry, 'turned his back on') the England squad said he wanted to come back. McLaren would have him in there like a shot.

The biggest point here is that he pulled out of the squad AFTER the squad had been submitted to the tournament officials, meaning Pearce could not take a replacement.

If he had been "injured" he could have been replaced, even during the tournament.

All of which seems to confirm the suspicion that the lad wanted to go, but Hughes pressurised him to withdraw at the last minute. Selfish on Hughses part, agreed, but he and the player are paid by Blackburn. Anyway, from Hughses point of view, would you entrust one of your brightest young talents to Stuart Pearce for a fortnight ffs?

the u21s does not involved travelling thousands of miles to play in unbearable heat and most injuries picked up in this will be cleared up well before the start of the season.....but.....

 

i think you are confusing people on here by presenting logical arguements.

 

i think any player being pressured not to play for his country is wrong.

 

as i said people should not moan about the ANC becasue it is in known about when you sign the player and as such the price you pay them and any transfer fee are lower because of this. (supply and demand)

 

i think bentley is a red ginger for dropping out, i think if hughes has been involved he is a red ginger (in fact he is a red ginger full stop)

 

on the ANC i also think some of the countrys FAs could cooperate a lot more to make life easier for their players by not inisiting of attendance at training camps etc etc but the rules say they can..

The close season argument refers to him not missing any premiership games due to the U21 game, re: your previous ANC comment, surely, and not the possiblity of injury.
