Mr Johnson would be a welcome poster on this here forum, I'm sure, as he only said what we most say on here on the subject of Scousers. I know someone told me once, there's things you think and there's things you say, but sometimes a bit of the "truth hurts" talk'll do no harm imho.

This isn't because he's labour (indeed a lot of my tory friends have voted for Ken twice now) but he has done a good job. The congestion charge has be brilliantly handled in my humble opinion. He was superb when bidding for the games. He has been an excellent ambassador for London - especially after 7/7, the speech he gave the day after was perfect for the 'occasion' and gave London and the UK what it badly needed:

 

 

There have been some gaffs such as called that reporter from the Standard a Nazi but on the whole, hes done a good job and I can't see anyone - especially not old Boris - beating him. Although I am looking forward to this election (although its the first one I won't be able to vote in) Boris Vs Ken! Two of the most high profile polticians in Britain going head to head in a contest that is probably more personaility than policy driven then any election in Britain? Superb!

Didn't he also invite some mad radical Muslim cleric to a conference about girls wearing hijabs at school...........even though by rights, he shouldn't have been allowed in the country as he openly preaches hate against the west, and I believe he also claimed that all gays should be exterminated and that western women deserved to be raped because of the way they dress. (I could be wrong on this point, just going off memory)

Yep, as I say - some gaffs! I can't, and I don't want to defend him on that one. Huge error, but in the big decisions that make Londoners lives better (at least when I lived and worked there) he seems to have done a great job. Although I'm not sure the small shop traders or the residents in Chelsea and Kensington would agree with the congestion charge. Still, when you're that rich.....

 

And yes, he maybe a slef publicist, but I think that to be Mayor of a major world city you promote yourself, you promote the city and on the world stage at least I don't think its such a bad thing. Even the deal he did with Hugo Chavez to provide cheap fuel for London buses and then cutting fares was brilliant as London's poorest travel on the buses rather than the tube - it directly benefitted them. And yes, I know Chavez isn't whiter than white!
