It does seem ridiculous, but as I mentioned previously, a player is only worth what people are willing to pay for them. If teams are only willing to bid ?10M, then that's all they think he is worth, for whatever reason, people value Bent higher than they do Anelka.

 

I know which of the two I would rather have though.

Bent is English, that's where the premium comes in. Elk is another class but i fear he will end up with the Hammers. Portsmouth though, can't see that one happening.

Not being funny, but Bolton fans aside, the UEFA Cup ain't all that much of a competition and I'm sure Anelka would forfeit competing in this (which might only last 2 games anyway) for a chance of joining a progressive club on more money.

 

Let's not forget that he did haul himself around the leagues for ??????s in the past.

 

I hope he stays and I hope if he does, he makes an official statement urging the other Bolton players to stay put and fight for the cause.

i remeber last year when people were comparing andy johnson with anelka.

 

johnson against spurs was attacking a single defender and had no idea what to do, ended up getting a throwin.

 

anelka last night, similar position, rips defender a new arsehole and forces keeper into a cracking save.

 

but i guarentee if both were sold, you'd gte more for johnson, because he's english and doesnt have anelka's so-called reputation.

I agree with Smiley on this one, I'm sure he's not overly arsed about playing in the UEFA Cup, ultimately he will be wanting to play for a club that can compete for the highest honours (whether this will ever be West Ham is another story)

well, Anelka isn't stupid, at least we are in Europe - and he's only up for leaving for a club that can give him Champions League , i.e. a big club who challenge each season - otherwise what's the point, as there are no guarantees West Ham will be anywhere near Europe!
