played at centreback with dunne for ireland yesterday and kept a clean sheet against a decent german team still looking to qualify.

with meite being far from convincing this season, how about 2 obriens as a central defensive pairing for the future?

I think Arsenal will take advantage of whatever pairing we field. I can see at least a 5 goal mauling I am afraid. Hope I am wrong but that is the way I see it.

I fear you may be correct but hope it can be the match that kick starts our season. Lets hope Wengers dislike of BWFC is further re-enforced next weekend.

Sammy Lee is in a 'No Lose' situation because everybody expects us to get batterered about 5 Nil. Having said that I would like us to play to score a goal because our personnel won't suit 10 men behind the ball, that would nullify our best players.

If it means getting rid of Lee, then I'm hoping for a five goal mauling. The quicker he's sacked the better imo. Better chance of turning our season round. I suspect we will win this one - one nil. We will then have all the posters on here saying we should stick with him and how he'll turn our season around.

so, what are you basing wanting rid of lee on?

poor results?

spose thats fair enough but if we won at arsenal then theres every chance we've turned a corner

The scenario will be that we win at Arsenal and then the team go on losing maybe drawing until christmas. The corner won't have been turned it will just be putting the decision off. To be honest I'd have sacked him after Chelsea. It could have given the new man more time.

I base the decision onpoor results and too many managerial mistakes. Also if we sack the guy now chances are we can turn the club around. Sack him at Christmas then we're definitely down.

Come on, some of you need to get off his case. The guy hasn't even had a dozen games to bed in the changes he's made. We all know that it can take players from another league time to adjust to the Premiership and with us unable to compete financially with the majoritiy of the Prem, we need to take risks with signings.

I can see us utilising both Wilhelmsson and Braaten on both flanks in a 4-4-2 eventually, whether that will pay off or not i don't know, but that seems to be Sammy's intention.

In the first quartre of the season we've tested different methods, formations etc... so we shouldn't expect to much from this, for me now after the Arsenal game this is where i'd expect us to start picking up results as Sammy should have a better idea of what system works and with what personnel.

I said to myself at the start of the season that we should give Sammy at least a dozen league games to implement his changes and for them to eventually work, so give the guy a chance.

It frustrates me more than most by using players like Nolan out wide on the right and playing a rigid formation at times, but we all can't see what Sammy see's on the training ground day in day out, he's got the upper hand on everyone who thinks they can do a better job.

I can't see anyone else out there who is proven who could take us to another level and who is obtainable for us. Given time i could possibly see Sammy doing this.

braaten on the wing?

and if you think we play rigid formations then you dont know you football. sammy changes the formation at least twice a game!

Aye Braaten on the wing. The guy hasn't really got an end product, so stick him on the wing with his powerful running and let him cut inside onto his right foot to place a ball across the area from the left. Don't see whats so funny about that.

What i meant by rigid is bogging down the midfield with central players like Nolan, Speed and Alonso who aren't naturally wide players out wide, didn't really use the right word in "rigid" there.

Get of his back? We've won 1 b?stard game all season, and we've played some sh?te teams as well.

I'd sooner have Lubo at the back instead of Meite, not gonna happen tho.

How can you hope we get battered? That's a joke mate. I said in my post I can see it happening but I damn well sure hope it does not happen. It will ruin confidence completely. This is the wrong time for us to be playing Arsenal the way they are ripping defences apart and the way we look so weak at the back.

At last some perspective. Give the guy a chance. We have had bad runs every season and finished top 8 consistently. The difference is that we have started with a bad run this time around. Allardyce is responsible for this mess, not making changes to culture and personnel quickly enough, leaving too much for any successor.

i was also happy when i got paid ?14 a week for my 1st paper round at 14.

times change.

Just remember, a couple of months into Big Sam's reign we got dicked by Tranmere over two legs in the League Cup, and again at the Reebok in the League. We also lost to Stockport and Walsall over the Christmas period. Gartside stuck by him and look what happened...

I'm convinced things will pick up under Little Sam over time. But weighed up against how important it is for teams to remain in the Prem, he surely can't have much more time left. Arsenal away has not come at a good time for him / us.

Anyway, Joey O'Brien. If we're short I suppose it's now an option for him to shift into the middle with Hunt playing right-back. Though it may be a case of Staunton going crazy.

?14 a week, I used to dream of earning ?14 a week

Times change, yes, but Bolton are not sackers of managers and, IMO, this is a part of the reason behind our success over those 20 years
