If We Appoint Gary Megson As Manager...

Featured Replies

....then its blatently obvious that Gartside is gearing us up for relegation in the hope that Gary Megson will guide us straight back to the Prem the season after! Plus we get him on the cheap! He is under no contract with Leicester as yet! Megson is a Championship League manager at best and not a Prem manager! :nea:

I would agree with that comment entirely.

The same things were writen about bfs when he came to Bolton. lets see what happens, still only press reports that Megson is on his way.

Don't be daft - it makes no sense whatsoever.

In footballing terms, we're 3 points off 13th place. Also if we did get relegated, we all know it's not that easy coming back up.

In monetary terms, we'd lose a ruckload in getting relegated.

So

Someone please explain to me why exactly Gartside wants us relegated?

I agree all best players will leave if we go down no money to spend on replacements (like we have in the past) lets give them a chance and see what happens. You cant change who you support Bolton till i die.

I don't think I did

Nobody is saying that Gartside wants us relegated, he seems to be settling for second best that we can only assume that the conclusion to this is relegation.

Can you gaurantee that we will win our next 3 games to get us out of this relgated position. I don't think so.

If we appoint Megson, fans will not renew season tickets next year whether we stay up or not. Megson is not a premier league manager and i'm totally convinced he would lead us only 1 way - and that certainly isn't up!

Ok Jules just for you to re-phrase it all.....

....then its blatently obvious that Gartside is already thinking that we will be relegated given that we are rock bottom, no team morale, players un-rest and relegation a highly likely outcome that be it in the hope if relegated that Gary Megson will guide us straight back to the Prem the season after on a shoestring, with our best players gone and him being a Champoinship Manager will at least not get us relegated from the Championship! Plus we get him on the cheap! He is under no contract with Leicester as yet! Megson is shiiit as a manager and definately not a Prem manager!

I know exactly what was meant the first time.

But I disagree

1) We haven't appointed Megson yet

2) Even if we do so, I'm sure it will be because Gartside thinks he can keep us up, not because he could get us back up in the event of relegation.

By the way, what's the difference between a Championship Manager (no, not the computer game) and a Premiership Manager?

Regarding your mention of 'second best' - who are you ranking as your 'first best'. From what i can see of the names being linked with the job - they are all much of a muchness and it comes down to personal choice.

I prefer Coleman but he has no better managerial credentials for the job than Megson, Bruce, Ince or Dowie!

After this coming weekends fixtures I don't think 1 win is good enough.

As for first best,I think Chris Coleman ranks a lot better than the others you mentioned. Second best was aimed at Megson.

Chris Coleman was very unlucky at Fulham, he attracted good palyers and was put in a position where he had to sell them off.

A good manager these days in the top flight has to be a completely different animal to how they used to be years ago because of the attitude of the overpaid players with big egos and bad attitudes. This is why Sammy Lee got sacked before he was given a chance.

You can be the best manager in the world tactically, but if you don't have a strong personality you will be crushed.

The likes of Campo, Barton, Savage, Bellamy etc. would have even told Shankly to f*ck Off.

I agree but has Megson got personality, i cant say he has shown it in any interviews on tv. the Steve bruce story seems to have gone very silent why not him, if we have to pay compen for Megson i would prefer Bruce.

With Shankly, I doubt they'd have got further than the "f*......" !!!

<_<

Megson is a Championship manager granted

But

To say Gartside is gearing up for relegation is hideous. I despise the man but that statement is crazy

Spot on on Andy! I am stunned at the calibre of candidates being pursued. Lee's appointment was crap given we had all summer to line up someone good and the position we were then in was far more attractive to any potential candidate.

The 7 years of good work by BSA has nearly been wrecked in less than 6 months.

Out of them all it would have been Sourness or better Hoddle. Sourness has turned us down. Why? maybe the fact that all the best players would be off loaded if we went down was unpalatable.

Smeghead is a old style up an at em who cannot manage big foreign stars and is certain to take us down. The end is nigh!!!

I just do not see Megson taking us out of the mire, and if we were looking at a Championship manager, we should be going after one that has the attitude of onward and upwards, which is how Allardyce got the job. Megson just does seem to me to have that attitude....at least with say Aidy boothroyd, you can see him becoming an excellent manager at all levels, megson...

Oh, I would have gone for Coleman from the candidates mentioned
