On Wednesday night, I did the Premier League's 'round the world' commentary as Bolton recorded their first Premier League win over Derby. It was only their sixth meeting, home and away, and now Bolton's overall record reads W1 D2 L3. It was their first league win over the Rams since October 1994 when a John McGinlay goal gave them a 1-0 win at Burnden Park in Division One.

 

It was Bolton's first top-division win over Derby since September 1978 when two Alan Gowling goals gave them a 2-1 win, Gerry Daly replying for the Rams.

 

As for Wednesday night's match-winner, it was Stelios Giannakopolous's first Premier League goal since March 2006 at Middlesbrough, although he has scored in other competitions in between times.

 

Finally, for poor old Derby it was their 10th defeat out of 11 league games, which means just one point out of the last 33 available and they have not recorded a Premier League away win since March 2002 when goals from Malcolm Christie, Fabrizio Ravanelli and Danny Higginbotham gave them a 3-1 at... you've gussed it, The Reebok!
