According to Martyn Lewis on the tonight programme on Monday,he reckons gas/elec will be going up 40% by next jan whereas if you cap them you will only suffer a 10-15% rise.Deals will last till next summer.

 

Always a risk but anyone capped there gas/elec ?

They are like fixed rate mortgage deals though. The good ones get pulled when prices show signs of increasing. isaacunt will probably be paying more at the moment compared to a standard rate deal but if these 40% increases are true, he will spend most of the 5 year cap deal better off.

I got mine capped with Scottish Power two months ago, up until 2011. If prices do go down, then I can cancel the contract apparently.............although I don't see that happening any time soon

I got mine capped at what i was paying last year-whatever that was

 

i never check. just pay the cnuts.

does this capping mean that someone from British Gas comes out and puts a cap on your supply pipe - therefore you can't use it anymore?
