Nolan Argues With Fan

Featured Replies

From todays Telegraph

Kevin Nolan, the Bolton captain who was fortunate to escape a red card after rashly committing what appeared a second bookable offence shortly before half-time, later found himself embroiled in an altercation with one of his own supporters at the Reebok Stadium.

It occurred at the end of a feisty scoreless encounter in which West Bromwich coped admirably with the intimidating home physical approach to secure their first Premier League point.

Nolan, claiming he had been abused by a Bolton supporter, said: ?People were having a go and I said we were doing our best, although I am not going to say what this particular person said. But I was out of order and apologised to him.

?Fans pay to watch games; they have the right to have a go and are entitled to an opinion. But I am asking them to stand by us as they did last season when they were like a 12th man to us.

?I was wrong doing what I did, but I am an emotional lad and have the good of the club at heart. I have come up through the ranks and people look at me first. It happens to Steve Gerrard at Liverpool and Gary Neville at Manchester United. But we need our fans to put the fear of God into away teams.? Nolan had already received a yellow card when he robustly flattened Leon Barnett near the conclusion of an opening half.............

Well the "fan" can get to f?ck. Nolan along with Riga was probably our best player. He ran his b?llocks off on Saturday. Should of chinned the fan.... :good:

players playing shit i can excuse, players not giving their all, i cannot.

nolan gives 100% week in, week out!

and as my mother used to say upon reading my school reports....

as long as your trying your hardest that is all we can ask for....

Nolan is in that list of mediocre players we have.....and this season will be another underacheivement for him...

why the hell are our fans always on his back...their bount drive the lad out of the team he loves..

I can't see why Kevin Nolan is apologising, this "fan" sounds like a fcuking cockend - FACT.

The Fan was probably just telling it like it is. Can't fault that.

Course you can, once Nolan has walked of the pitch, anyone telling him "like it is" is a cockend. Or he he fair game 24/7?

Nolan shouldn't be appolgising for losing his rag either shows he's passionate about the Whites doing.

don't think nolan deserved any stick he runs his knackers off and gives his all every week, we look lost without him.

I don't know when/what was said, but in his line of work it's to be expected. If it was a personal dig then maybe not, but the players do need to face up to the fact that for 99% of the time they run around like headless f**king chickens.

And as for running his knackers off every week, thats all very well, but when it acheives nothing you need a change of plan. Not just singling Nolan out as apart from trying to mame opposition players he didnt do to badly. Where as Gavin McCant on the other hand continues to amaze me with every performance.

Also we look lost without him because there is no one to point.

And you'd do better then?

It's like those people who sit there shouting tactical instructions to players, "get out wide!". Cockends.

so because he's a footballer and some spacktard gives him a load of abuse he can't then have a go back?

yes this bod was well within his rights to show himself up by abusing Nolan but Kev shouldn't be appologising for having a go back!

And you'd do better then?

i reckon paul "SHOOT" ince falls into this catagory...

And you'd do better then?

Surely the point is that the players in question can do better, which is why supporters get frustrated, or are you saying that no-one's entitled to an opinion unless it's positive?

What has that got to do with anything?

I can fully understand why people have a go at players given the chance, because I'm fed up of seeing sh!t performance after sh!t performance from some of our so-called 'better' players.

I assume you sit there quietly through the match and give the occasional "hurah!" when we score?

It's not all the players fault, the Tosser in charge has to take some of the blame for not having any actual tactics other then hump the ball up field and just see what happens. Although this tatic was fatally flawed on Saturday when he forgot to deploy an actual striker to score a goal or indeed play up front. I found the 4-6-0 formation extremely annoying. But never mind, bacuase everyone ran there socks off.

Maybe we'll get a lucky deflection against Fulham, and Shittu wont let someone run right past him before slipping on his arse.

I think thats exactly the point. There are a lot of short sighted people on this board that seem to get offended that Bolton fans may actually have something negative to say and have an opinion that differs from themselves.

I'm saying exactly what I've just said, nothing more. If you are struggling to comprehend it please re-read it. Please don't attempt to misrepresent me.

No one should be voicing their own opinions to players to the point they snap and have a go back. I don't expect people to have a go at me in the street over the way I do my job and neither should Kevin Nolan.

You could also agrue that people dont pay hundreds of pounds a year to watch you do your job.

Sorry, but when you said "the players do need to face up to the fact that for 99% of the time they run around like headless f**king chickens.", I assumed you thought you knew better than they do, that's the way it comes across anyway.

If you are fed up of shit performances, maybe you should head off and support someone else who plays free-flowing football? I've got no idea what you'd make of the stuff we played as we fell into Division 4, myself I've got nothing but utter contempt for people who can't enjoy what we've currently got.

What a load of bollocks. Since when do people pay their hard earned money to watch you do your job? Or have i 'misrepresented' your comments again?

That'll be because they dare to disagree with your oppinion, as stated above. If I think Bolton are playing boring/sh!te/negative football Im fully entitle to say so. Just because your happy to put up with sh!te, doesnt mean everyone else is. Thats whats wrong with this country. its the 'Could be worse' attitude.

I'm not the only Bolton fan to think this as attendances show. I would think it is you who is now in the minority.

You could also agrue that people dont pay hundreds of pounds a year to watch you do your job.

But you get plenty of time to shout pretty much whatever you want whilst they are on the pitch. Like I said before, is he fair game 24/7? Maybe you could go round his house and pelt his windows with stones the next time you disapprove?

To expect him not to retaliate is even more naive. I expect that this "fan" was some speccy ginger tw@t.

I didnt say I dont expect him to retaliate. he can do what he likes.

Why would you expect that?

And where have I stated my opinion then?

I wasn't even at the game, I was at a 1st birthday party, and have made no reference to Saturday's or any other game.

Anyone who uses "I'm entitled to" as part of an argument is talking bollocks and all. It doesn't mean anything, and factually, you have no entitlement as such to post on WW. It's owned by Happy, he lets us post on here, that's all.
