Depends how you look at it

 

We were the better team for the first 15 mins, then they had a good 10 minutes, before we scored

 

End of the day they are two relatively well matched teams, we just got the breaks

like most away teams who usually have to endure an early onslaught - before steadying the ship and getting to grips with the game.

 

can't remember myself what Waddle said - but felt he was being too harsh too soon and then appeared to completely change his tune when things were going well as if his earlier comments had been forgotten.

 

I was defending our lads - by shouting at the TV screen at home - I felt the bandwagon of jumping on their backs cos of a shitty performance (though we won) against Andorra was not necessary.

 

Still, I think the sending off had a helping hand in shaping the result.

 

I'd have been gutted had the decision gone against us - don't think it was that malicious - regardless of the injury it caused.

I think the problem with former pro-footballers 'turning their hand' to being football pundits is that, during their over-paid, under-worked playing career they have never had to develop an analytical mind. As such, they have rarely had a need to think about right here-right now. This now shows in their ability to comment on a live happening; it doesn't particularly have to be football.

They'll have prepared for the game by writing pre-scripted 'off the cuff' remarks which, should the game not pan out in the expected fashion, makes them look pricks.

Even the seamless banter on MotD between Linaker, Hansen, Shearer and Lawrenson is practiced and scripted. They'd never be able to do it for a live match; instead they wait until half time to pass comment.

Give me a professional sports commentator over a former footballer any day.
