nephew has be mithering for ages to come out with me on the push iron. don't really want to take him on the roads for obvious reasons, and parks rides like moss bank and leverhulme can be a bit dull. anyone know of any stretches of canal or desent country parks where bikes are allowed in or around the bolton area ?

Bit further a field but if you can transport your bike then Middlewood Way inbetween stockport and macc is alright 10 miles country path. Fallowfield loop line in south manc isn't too bad, not brilliant, inbetween chorlton and east manc. Then trans penine trail anywhere inbetween chorlton water park and Warrington passing through Lymm is all country paths leading to River Mersey that you then ride by. Can't think of anything closer to Bolton though but I'll ask around
